Wireless Access?

I had a question. My Inspiron 8200 has 802.11b? Whatever that means. I am not that familiar with wireless networking. Will my wireless work if I get a 802.11g router? What is the difference between a 802.11a, b, and g routers?

It should be. Most are backward compatible. Basically, the difference between the a, b, g, etc is speed. g will be the fastest atm over a wireless network.

Yeah, as Van said, it should would. b & g are backwards compatible and differ only in speed (b is 11Mbit, g is 54Mbit). a is a totally sifferent animal and won't work unless you have a dual band wireless card. I don't really know of any place that uses a anymore though.

Stay away from A. A offers G speeds but at 25% of its range.
