need help with CAT3.10 and mobile mod

Thread Starter
I'm trying to use mobileMod to install the cat3.10 drivers. I follow these directions posted on Rage3D

1. Download whichever ATI driver you want to install.

2. Run the driver .exe (As if you were installing the drivers normally)

3. Install will give you 2 errors. Just hit ok with both of those and it will exit out

4. Run Mobil Mod

5. Hit Load Driver Set

6. Direct it to C:/ATI/Support/wxp-w2k-7-962-031202m1-012924c

*Note: Your wxp-w2k-7-962-031202m1-012924c folders name may vary a bit. It should be the only folder there.*

7. Click in the file that begins with CX

8. Go back to Mobil mod. Should still be running.

9. Click Modify now

10. Close Mobil Mod

11. Install drivers as normal. DO NOT overwrite any files. When it asks you to, click No to all. VERY IMPORTANT STEP!

Mobilemod tell me that the file was modified and that the M10 is now supported. How ever when I run the install program and say No to all overwrites I get a "Inf video driver not found" error and another advising me to set up a standard VGA first. Does this mean I should remove the Mobility drivers first?

Do This

Use this program...http://www.driverheaven.net/patje/
Then you will notice in..C:/ATI/Support...there will be 2 sub folders..one for drivers...and one for control panel.
After you mod the inf files you can have the mod program install the drivers for you or... go to the sub folder under...C:/ATI/Support..the one with the drivers in it and use the setup exe in there....then after drivers install say no to reboot..then go again into sub folder under C:/ATI/Support..and use the setup exe in the control panel folder..after CP installs reboot..bingo your good to go. Also it would be better to download the ATI drivers in to parts drivers then control panel, as seen on ATI's site.

So to clarify..use the mod from above link, then D\L the ATI drivers in two parts,drivers\control panel, extract both, say no to wizard, fireup Mod tool, mod inf's, go back to C:/ATI/Support and use the setup exe's in each of the sub folders driver\control panel in order, say no to reboot after driver install, finish with control panel install, then reboot. After reboot you will notice that screen looks washed out, thats because its at 16 bit, just change it to 32 bit in the display properties.

Also make sure you do a clean uninstall (before you install new drivers) of both control panel then drivers, in order, reboot. you can use drivercleaner from here...http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/.... and yes you can do a install from device mgr but its a BS way of doing it. Just follow the directions above and it will work everytime. I do it on 3 comps all the time without issue

One more thing to add. You may need to do the update from the Device Manager. Select the display adapter and choose "Update Driver". Point to the modified inf file and it should work then. This is kind of a last resort. Also, just to let you know, the 4.1's are out and replace the 3.10s. See ATIs site.
