Don't forget the 100 dollar mail in rebate!

Geeez, taxes got me worse than you. I paid ~114 dollars in taxes and my system was about 200 less than yours pre-tax!

Damn Texas sales tax!!! or whatever it is....

Seriously, paying taxes on something you order over the internet sucks BIG time....but I know it has to do with whether they operate stores/kiosks in your state. I could have had a USB TV Tuner for the price of the taxes!

Here we got a 7% federal tax and a 7.5% provincial tax.
So if the taxes are applied after rebates...I would have had about 230$ in taxes on your system.

Not many canadian coupons on ebay found some last night...but they are gone now.

That's CRAZY! But you guys probably have free health care, etc, right? Anyway, I'm really looking forward to using the dual core system in with my music making software Cubase. The realtime effects chewed a hole in my 9300!

Ya we got free healthcare etc. etc. but I would rather prefer to pay for those things myself, and have lower taxes.

Taxes do make the difference. Wish I knew someone in a state where they don't charge sales taxes or where Dell doesn't have a presence. Tax rate in my area of CA is 8.25%. About to order...at least the 30% and 12% EPP coupon and discount will help. The 120 gig drive looks good. I'm just going with the 100/5400 and my cost is almost the same as yours.

hehe so would I, thats why I live in USA

There are about 5 states in the USA that dont have any sales taxes at all! In Alaska, you actually get paid about 700 dollars a year to live there (from all the oil) for EACH person. So your 5 year old gets a check from gov't for 700 each year.

The amount changes with how much money is received from oil taxes/royalties.

I really wanted to get the 100GB 7200 drive, but I could use the extra 20gb and paying and extra $200 is brainless

Now here's hoping I don't get a suck screen!

I'm OK with the 100gig/5400. I've had a 5400 in my Compaq and thought about upgrading but never did and I got by just fine. I have a large drive in my desktop and have lots of free space. Maybe I don't even need the 100gig but think the price point on it is good.

I prefer 15% tax and free health care than what you guys have in the US! poor u

I did notice that with the exchange rate....the laptops end up being cheaper on Dell.ca
I built basicaly the same beefedup 9400 on Both sites and it was somethign like $3800 canadian on the canadian site...and $3600 US on the US site.
