i think dual core is great but i would have liked to see improvements clock for clock or a higher clockspeed from the start compared to the single cores (meaning a 2.4 ghz or higher model) but its nice to have dual cores with the same tdp as single core counterparts

Forget the core duo, that camo finish is HAWT ! Sure beats the plain blue / reds....

Intel used the philosophy of shrinking the size of the while ramping up clock speeds as much as possible. This approach has lead to overheating and a problem called silicon leakage has forced Intel to redraw their strategy into multi core processors which combines 2 execution cores into a single piece of silicon which will boost the ability to multitask. The big issue is will the duo core provide a performance boost without comprimising battery life. Because of the hyper-threading on the P4 the software industry was got a head start and you will see a big influx of software that takes advantage of using multiple treads once MS Vista in released. Intel also plays to have Quad Core processors in the next 2 years.

intel quad cores are currently sceduled to be released in q1 2007. but its intel they are pushing their processors back ... and back .. .and back ... and ... so on. so you could be right with the 2 years frame

And it won't stop there. They just figured out a way to make them 1/3 the current size:
