How do I restore the on screen volume and brightness indicators on my 8204?

I don't know what I pressed but I don't recall disabling the green display that shows up when you change the volume and brightness with the Fn key and the arrow keys. Now there is no such indication on what my volume level is as I adjust it. Anyone have an idea? Thanks

Did you happen to install Logitech Setpoint drivers? In my case they overwrote my keyboard drivers (even though I only wanted the mouse drivers for my bluetooth mouse). Even removing Setpoint left the Logitech hardware abstraction layer (KHALMPR.EXE) behind and I had to remove that by hand. Re-install the launch manager program and you should be getting your on-screen displays back.

the lauch program doesn't have anything to do with it. I have that disabled and mine still works.

Sorry, I thought he meant the grey box that pops up on the bottom right when turning the Num Lock or Caps Lock on or off. That doesn't have anything to do with the launch manager. The green screen indicators would. My bad.

That worked for me

If I exit the SetPoint program in my traybar, my launch manager works again!

However I'd like them both to co-exist. How did you manage to manually remove the offending file?

Thanks in advance!

Fuhgetaboutit

Well I have since gotten rid of SetPoint, it doesn't really do all that much that I find useful.

All is normal again in Acer World.

Thanks All

No - same problem here. I just bought an Acer Aspire and when setting everything to my preference I somehow lost that on screen function. Particularly annoying that the wireless enabled/disabled display has gone. Any help appreciated.
