Driver Issues?

Thread Starter
Sometime last week I upgraded Drivers from 81.98 XG to 83.60 XG. I uninstalled the 'Nvidia Driver' in the control panel and rebooted in safe mode to run Driver Cleaner. I rebooted again in normal operation and installed the new XG drivers. I opened up FEAR and got extremely horrible performance, I got out of FEAR and checked I9k. My temps never went over 56C while in FEAR for 15 Min. BTW, I idle at 50C. I am on AC so its not running off of battery and my Nvidia settings have AC power at Max Performance. I do manage to get FEAR to run as it normally did with pretty good frame rates every once and awhile (Every other time I reboot) but the temps go up to 107 after an hour when they never went over 92C after two hours) My clocks were at 440/1200 for both, but even at 430/1200 I get 107C after an hour. I have uninstalled and reinstalled different drivers: 83.20 XG, 83.40 XG, and 83.90 LaptopVideo2Go (currently running the 83.90 drivers) all of them were Laptop drivers for the Nvidia go cards. I can't figure this one out...

.....HELP!!

EDITED THE SUBJECT FOR EFFECT

Are you sure the heat problem is driver related?
Have you cleaned the fans and such lately, Some people including me have to clean them once every couple weeks or the temps start climbing.

I'll look into blowing them out, but before I installed the first of the new drivers I only got up to around 92C as my max and only a few days later its at 107. Heck, I even put a 16inch x 16inch fan right along the right side to push cooler air underneath the video card's fan and push hot air away from the back. Then there's the matter of my temps not going up at all when they should be, at the same time I get poor performance (I could run the same settings before the first install and everything was smooth)

Thankyou for the advise though, at least I'm getting responses

So noone has any idea what could be going on here...???

UPDATE: I think using DriverCleaner Pro is where my problem is right now. Everytime I do a clean sweep in safe modeI end up having to re-install drivers for my Monitor. I haven't really paid it much thought but I just had to install new drivers for my SD card slot I'm starting to think it might have wipped out some important drivers here, but Istill can't explain the higher temps as I always install new Nvidia drivers each time.

With 4 posts by me and 1 help post, I'm not getting to far... What do I have to do, start offering a Ten Rep Hits Reward for whomever helps me fix this problem ?

Hey Tanamol.. Have you thought about doing a clean install and see how it goes. I typically do a fresh Windows install every 2 to 3 months. Yeah I know its a bitch but here is a helpful hint: Do a fresh Windows install, do all the MS updates and then reinstall all your needed software. Then install Norton Ghost and create a Backup Image DVD! Once installed you can do a fresh reinstall every few months in about an hour.

I know its not the simple answer but if DriverCleaner screwed up this is likely the best thing to do. Also its a good idea to clean out the fans of dust often! Its quite dusty where I live and I open the laptop once a month to clean it out. I also hit the vents a few times a week with a can of compressed air to help things.

Thanks reaper. I hope it doesn't come to that but I'll use it as a last resort if necessary.

I'm about to check out Dell's site for all the drivers as I don't think DriverCleaner FUBARed my XP Pro OS, just all my drivers. I'll update on how it goes.
