Coolermaster notepal for 17in laptops - Page 2

Finished doing some tests. Encoding a movie right now, with 2 torrent applications running, and typing this up. It doesn't read GPU.

Test w/o Notepal

CPU: 64.0C
HDD: 33.0C

Test w/ Notepal w/ fan off

CPU: 64.0C
HDD: 33.0C

Test w/ Notepal and Fan on

CPU: 64.0C-65.0C
HDD: 33.0C

This thing does nothing for my notebook. It doesn't even feel good with this angle because the front is lifted up as well. I guess it's going in the trash can. POS

I have that very same cooler and I love it. It works well and I too was alittle unsure about it but I read a thread from the boards(I can not remeber it but it was reviewed quite well by a memeber named UN inspector with pics of the setup to his XPS/m170). Even after a year with the intro of 17 inch laptops then is no company that has made a cooler fit truly fit the 17 inch model which is a shame. What make the pacific breeze really great is that it can fit from 17" to the 12" models and it forces air directly to the bottom of the laptop instead of pulling the heat away from it, and the blue lights are cool too. Now yes it cheap but you get a great cooler and it does the job with a extra USB port(well 2 ports-one is for power).

I also have the Notepal 17" cooler, but I think it works just fine. It definitely keeps my laptop cooler than it would be normally. I certainly feel more heat through the keyboard when the cooler is turned off. Also, it elevates the laptop at a nice angle to type on.

To keep it from tipping, I removed two of the rubber feet from my 3Com wireless ADSL router/modem, and stuck them on either side of the cooler (at its highest point), as close to the outer edges of the laptop as I could get them. Keeps the laptop stable while it's open. I still have to hold down the base of the laptop when I open it, but I have the feeling I'd still have to do that even if the cooler was the right size.

I don't regret getting this cooler. I feel that it makes enough of a difference that it will keep my hardware alive longer (especially since I overclock my video card).

Would be nice if Coolermaster would update this a bit - maybe make it slightly deeper, and then put in some variable fans that have just a touch more ability. There are plenty of very quiet fans out there that would fit in a cooler of this size, I'd think. Maybe I'm crazy...

Here you go. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16834996501

I own the CoolMaster, and it works very well with me. No heat problems when i play F.E.A.R. and BF2. below are some photos. It does tilt a little bit when o open it up, but thats not a seious problem, rock solid when i'm playing my games.

It's not wide enough!!!

I have one also, and yes the thing is not wide enough , but I find the four rubber feet will feet perfectly on the two edges at the front and back. This lifts the lappy up and gives it a lot of space underneath. it quite stable, but flat with no angle.

I got a cooler from ebay, its like the pacific breeze cooler but a cheaper version. I placed it on the side of my 9400 directly on the GPU side and took out the PC card cover. My notebook was hitting 75-80 idle before the fan kicks in and the temp goes down to 71. It just goes on and on. Now with the cooler, it idles at 62 and never goes up unless you play games then it reaches 76

I think it's wide enough, just not Deep enough.

Is there any difference in your temps? I've got one of those as well and it doesn't cool my GPU one bit. It does the rest of my laptop though

I have the same one. It cools my gpu about 3 degrees C idle and 5 Degrees on load. It's alot smaller than my M170 but amazingly enough it does not wobble. Plus you can use it on your lap. I leave about a 1 inch gap on the back so the cooler's fans are closer to the laptop's intake fans. The compartments underneath the cooler is a plus two. And it also has a 4 port USB hub. I have not tried using the power cable for it. Maybe I should try and see if it speeds up the fans. Or it's probably to power 4 usb devices in the hub. I'll keep u guys posted.
