Help with sound card S/pdif

Thread Starter
I purchased a turtle beach usb for headphone use. But i have found that certain programs such as I tunes are muted when using the S/pdif into my reciever. The intervideo dvd player outputs to the turtle beach and sound clear as a bell. This got me to thinking just output Itunes to the built in sound cards's spdif output. I have folowed the directions in the control panel of the Realtek manager and it should come out the black hole/port on the rear of the 5720. I can't make it work and would like to know if i am missing a step here or do might i have a bad port. Any help greatly apprecatied.

If I understood you correctly, you are saying that some stuff plays out thru the SPDIF port and some doesn't.

This is possibly due to the format. SPDIF will only play stuff encoded at 44.1kHz or 48kHz. (and some at 32kHz)

or if your geeky see here: http://www.epanorama.net/documents/audio/spdif.html

-IF- this is your problem, the only way around it is to resample your audio. (I believe KMixer in MSWin attempts to do this automatically - to the detriment of the audio.) Yes, sometimes SPDIF is more trouble than it's worth - unless, of course, you are an audiophile.
