Reformatting guide

Hello all.

Been reading these forums for quite a while now and took the plunge on an E17905. Thanks to everyone who as contributed to the forum, it really aided in my decision.

Now, on to the subject. I haven't received the laptop yet, but it is shipped so it should be here by mid next week. I purchased the back-up CDs for XP pro when I ordered the laptop incase I needed them.

So, is the process as easy as it is on a desktop? Just pop the CD in, and reformat or is there more to it? Do the XP Pro CDs come with all of the necessary drivers? I am assuming all of the bloatware is removed and you are supplied with the bare essentials.

I would like to create a guide to reformatting after I do this myself so others don't have to ask the same questions that I am probably asking.

Thanks in advance!

Yep, it isn't that hard to do a reformat. Um, I think there is a drivers cd, but not sure if they are included when reformatting. You should be able to get Windows started, but you'll probably need some drivers in order to connect to the internet. So it might be best to download all the drivers before you reformat.

why a drivers cd... it's better to get them on dell website just in case there is a new version
