Laptop Mice Consensus?

Thread Starter
Is there a general consensus on this board that a certain type of mobile mouse is better than the rest? If so does anyone want to enlighten me to what they use or what seems like many here use

I don't do any gaming so I use a Microsfot Wireless mouse...Link Below. I'm very happy with it for what I use it for.

Same here. I own both. Wireless mouse is terrible for fps gaming, especially when you have the Sager 98XX models. The usb ports are all located on the left side, and if you are right handed, sometimes the mouse cursor lose it's bearing. Very annoying.

After owning 4 different mice and........

3 different tracking balls, I've come to love the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000. This one is in my opinion, the best (non-gaming) one available at this time. When the Logitech V400 comes out, it may take the top of the heap rights but for now, I don't think you can find anything better than the 6000. The tracking is outstanding, it has a very small USB sending unit that snaps in the bottom of the mouse for carrying. Every button is programmable in multiple ways. The scroll wheel is the tilt type and can be programmed for magnification if wanted. The "Back" button is small yet right where you want it for effortless touching. The mouse as a whole is very well designed and fits my hand perfectly.

When the V400 comes out, I will probably wait about a week to read more reviews and then make a decision. As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't make a bit of difference what notebook you have it you don't have a quality mouse. Also, wires are a thing of the past. I know some guys like them but every time I look behind my TV, I get a stress head from just looking at the spaghetti mess of wires. My notebook most of the time has one wire connected to it, the power feed and occasionally my speaker feed wire but other than that, I try and keep it wireless as possible. Once you go WiFi it's very hard to go back to a wired set up. With the accuracy and quality of today's wireless laser mice, I can't understand how anyone would want a wired mouse but to each his own!
Respectfully,
Ed

I have the same mouse. Mostly CAD and some gaming. Works excellently.

I notice absolutely no lag. It all depends on the surface it's on.

I have that one (MS notebook optical 4000). It works great, as I don't notice _any_ lag at all while playing FPS. Also, i use the transmitter on the left side of the notebook (one USB port is there, the others are behind, so...) and the mouse on the right side, and I never, ever, lose the signal.

btw, when i bought it the range was, measured, 1.7-1.8 meters (americans would use what? 6 feet?). great wireless mouse, and the receiver does not have movable parts, making it less possible to mal-function.

I use an MS Wireless Explorer 2.0 mouse w/tiltwheel, and I game with it. My main desktop has an MS Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. Neither of the mice are any slower then a wired mouse, I've been using wireless for years now.

I have the Logitech MX610 Laser mouse and I really like it. Programable buttons, regular size instead of the miniature size like most "laptop" mice. I had started out with the Microsoft one at the top of this thread and while i still have it I don't use it much because it's so small in my hand. It's not as comfortable as the MX610. I got the MX for $30 on sale too!

logitech mx518 is so nice and comfortable, as a gamer I find it very nice to change speed on the fly

I decided I didn't want to switch batteries all the time in my wireless mouse so I've just got a logitech MX500 (yeah, old school I know) hooked up.

I have a logitech V270 bluetooth mouse.. Works great most of the time and good battery life, has an on/off switch. The only problem is every couple days my laptop will not find the mouse forcing me to delete and add it under my bluetooth. I have the Dell 350 card with hacked widcomm drivers. I have a MX 1000 @ home which I love!!! If only the MX 1000 had a on/off switch... to lazy to pull the batteries every time I pack my system up for work and school.

Same here, it's still better than a lot of the laser ones too in terms of DPI. Most lasers still have only about 800 to 1000 DPI.

Well I use an old wireless Logitec Keyboard and Mouse Combo. The keyboard has some multimedia buttons on top including a wheel and two botton on the left side. The wheel can be use as the mouse wheel and is very nice to change weapons during games. The keyboard is Y-RJ20 and the mouse is M-RR63

I use a Logitech MX510, and so far I am loving it, although I have to admit, the clicking sound is damn loud (could get annoying to other people in class).

I just got the logitech mx610 yesterday, I like it so far.

my only complaint is the wireless thing doesn't rotate, my old targus mini wireless mouse I was able to rotate the antenna to point straight up, this I'm worried about snapping off while I use the computer in bed (I have a dog).

I also wish the usb dongle was able to store in the base of the mouse like the mini mice.

I cant stand the mini mice, so the full size wireless was the only way to go for me.
