IBM ThinkPad recovery disk

Thread Starter
I have CD “recovery disks” supplied by IBM (for my T41 Think Pad), but if I use the recovery disks all of my user installed software, data and settings will be removed. I will have to start from the “factory installed” configuration.

I just need to restore individual programs and files from the recovery disks. I also want access to the WIN XP Pro operating ysstem, in case I need to repair or modify the installed OS. I have talked with IBM tech support who said they do not supply any information on individual file restore from the CD’s.

So, I need to know how to use the restore disks to “extract individual files. Does anyone know how to do this or can give me a link to a web site.?

Thanks, (sbaggett4@cox.net)

hello,

no that i have tried, but i think you should be able to right click on the CD drive and access all the files in the CD. i don't know if the XP settings stuff would come out OK

In my R50P, there is a IBMTOOLS folder in C drive. It contains the individual software and drivers.

Also there is I386 folder. That is where WinXP Sp1 is.

Since IBM no longer includes restoration CDs. I think you should have the same folders.
