USB Power Surges

Okay, the newest little issue with my 8790 is a power surge in the usb ports. I keep getting the message 'The usb device plugged into the usb2 ports has exceeded its power usage and has been disabled' then the message goes away and it works just fine. This is very weird, and all three ports are doing it. Does anyone have any idea why they would be acting like this?

Okay, I'm thinking/hoping its my optical mouse going out. I think there's a short where cord meets usb adaptor, so I'm trying another. Everyone cross your fingers for me.

Never heard of that before Hopefully it is just the mouse. Don't have any other USB items to plug in to test the ports?

My psp and an external hard drive. I thought it was the hard drive, but it started doing it last night from work when I just had the mouse plugged in. The mouse was the one thing that's always been in, so I just didn't think about it. Knock on wood I've had a replacement mouse and the hard drive plugged in all afternoon and all has been well.

Good to hear. I'm all for hearing about easy fixes in this forum. Every time I see a new post here, it scares me.

Tell me about it. My 8790 has served me very well, but its had just enough little (and one BIG) issue that no matter how much I want a 9750, I'm having a hard time deciding if I trust sager enough for a repeat performance. PcTorque I trust, they have helped with every issue I've had, but as for sager...
