Up until now I have been a loyal Sagerite / loyal to PC Torque. During the past 3 yrs I have purchased an 8887V {and paid to convert it to a 8890}, an 8790V and a 9880V.
However, the issues that have been going on with my 8790 are enough to make me go back to buying Dell.
During its 1st yr, the 8790 needed a motherboard replacement for severe artifacting. During the past 6 months, one of its 2 hard drives failed and I sent it in to Warrentech's repair company Micro Medic. Micro Medic replaced the hard drive but for some unknown reason, they also replaced my Pioneer 2X DVD-R drive with a CD-R drive. When I got the computer back I had to argue with Warrentech to get them to trust that I indeed had sent them the 8790 with a Pioneer DVD-R drive in it. After 2 weeks they told me to send the computer back to Micro medics so as to put the original drive back.
Then during the end of this January, my 8790 started to get severe artifacting, and Warrentech / Repairmaster had me send it to Anew Business Solutions in Texas to do the work. Two weeks later they sent the computer back sending me a small power brick for an HP laptop and keeping my 8790 power brick. Fortunately, I had previously purchased a 2nd 8790 power brick so I was able to test the computer but as soon as I loaded the original drivers off the CD, the screen artifacted like crazy.
I would have thought that they would have replaced the motherboard, but it was obvious they didn't. Their was no repair ticket to indicate what they had actually fixed if anything.
Anew Business Solutions in Texas called me to say that I should not send the laptop back to them as they completed their warranty work order. They felt that the screen only artifacted when the Sager original drivers were put in off the Sager device driver CD, therefore it's a software issue, and would be my responsibility to contact Sager and ask for a patch.
I told them that I've been running the computer with these same drivers for 12 months with no artifacting so I felt that it is not a software issue. They finally agreed to send me a box to send the computer back. Hopefully they will fix the problem this time and return my extra power brick.
These product and service issues make me doubt that I will ever buy a Sager again.
