Found the answer by going back a couple of posts. I was 'bad' in that I didn't properly caveat my comment wrt MediaDirect and 'Slot 1' in the Partition Table. That would be correct IF it was the 'original' MediaDirect and not the result of a REINSTALLATION. The Dell boot code is different depending on what you've done. With a REINSTALLATION and the use of a MediaDirect partition, the boot code is not as 'selective' about the Partition Table configuration. So, yes, by using a MediaDirect partition it's possible to have an active partition in Slot 1....
