Alienware site, ways to save some money

Thread Starter
Correct me if I am wrong, but I was messing around with pricing on the alienware site for laptops, its weird because if you take the base model and upgrade it.......... its actually cheaper then the next two top models, cheaper by max $50 but still a savings

I got the same price upgrading the Performance model to the Extreme model - $3630
post #3 of 17
That is how I purchased mine. I took several days messing around with those drop downs trying to configure it so it will fall well below those higher priced ones.

Same with Dells

I got the same result 3 years ago when I ordered my Dell Inspiron 8100. I just took the base 8100 and added to it. Configured the same as there souped up one but was about $30 cheaper. Go figure.

I didn't think about trying that when I ordered my A51m.

I done it opposite to you lot. I picked Extreme and configured -down- ... but still got it to a reasonable price that I could afford [worked all Xmas and Summer for it man!]

I just tried it with my system specs and it would drop well over $ 100 for me. : )

i tested this when i bought mine and it was the same for each of the three if they were configed exactly the same
the first few times i got different prices because i missed the mouse
maybe you missed the wireless? high end has it defalt but low end doesnt and its $54

I agree

I just found the samething. You are missing the mouse I think.

Make sure that you guys are looking at all the pages to make sure that all the boxes are filled in the same. The extreme has a mouse, memory stick and Alien adrenaline selected by default while they are not selected on the performance model. No matter how I configure it comes out to the same price starting with either the extreme, enthusiast or performance.

ya i messed around with that too but the price always came out the same. ckaplan might be right, you may have overlooked something.

hmm.... i came up with $121 less, wow i have to double check it...

Take off the 3 Year Warranty to save money, the thing will be obselete by then ... [e.g. New model comes out/design] - I picked 1 year free just to save that amount
post #13 of 17
oooo nooo i missed one thing too bad, got same prize
post #14 of 17
you guys are getting cheaper prices cause your not adding the mouse and the flash drive... but i would suggest everyone to get on these cheap prices, i bought mine a week ago and within that week the price dropped 400 dollars. You never know how long its going to be that low aw has tendencies to jack prices back up
post #15 of 17
He he, i figured you might have missed something. Sorry you got your hopes up. :P
post #16 of 17
Yeah it's weird. I am looking at all 3 in the checkout. Every product is the same and am not missing one thing. Maybe they changed a price in something as I was choosing lolz. I don't know, might be an error or something...
yeah its the same...
i configured a performance to be the same
the configuration is saved as
