A few 1505/6400 Questions......

Hi there

i've been reading the forum since a time ago, GREAT FORUM

So, i'm the owner of a Dell Latitude C640(Pentium 4 1.8, 512 Ram, 32 Vid) but now i want something much better.

So, i'm looking for a Inspiron 6000, i've check the page today and there's no more 6000's, they replace it with the new 6400.
Now my questions are:

1. Is there too much difference between the Pentium M 1.73GHz and the new one Core Duo 1.66GHz??

2.- Is much better the video card Ati X1400 256MB than the Ati X300 128MB?
Because there is about $100 difference between this 2 ones

3.-the screens options are :

-Pantalla Amplia de 15.4" UltraSharp SXGA+ con despliegue TrueLife (15SXGAS) [Sumar $53.460]
-Pantalla Amplia de 15.4" XGA con despliegue TrueLife (15XGAS) [Sumar $15.660]
-Pantalla Amplia de 15.4" XGA (15XGA)

Isn't WIDESCREEN???

I live in Chile and is already available here.

Hope you answer my questions soon as possible, i'll buy it on Monday (2/27)

Thax!!

Wow! I like those specs, that better be the options we get in the US - I think i found my new lappy! Why is latin america getting these before us????

Everyone gets the latest products before the US (except Australia).

For your answer on the video card. The X300 is a left over part from the I6000D. The X1400 uses 128bit just like the X300, but the X1400 has Shader 3.0 support and HDR support. These features will make things less choppy on newer games that try to make calls for those features.

Also, the screens ARE widescreen. Dell made some mistakes on your page. They also say in the spec's that the 100gig HD is 7200rpm when it's actually 5400rpm. So don't worry about the typo's.

Later in english...

Chabela

Now in English (poor, but can be very bad )

I've suspects than you're from Chile, so I'll answer in spanish first...
1.- the difference between Core solo & core duo is a processor, Core Solo is one processor in one Si package, Core Duo is two processor in one Si package
Of course, Core duo're better for intense applications, and the difference in Mhz is tiny, so one core v/s one the diff. speed isn't noticeable

2.- The difference is big, specially now that "Vista" is near to launch, I think that the Ati X1XXX are the only card shipping now by Ati that are full Vista supported

3.- as written before, Widescreen = Pantalla amplia
