Toshiba 2455-S305 Recovery CD's Needed!

I have a Toshiba Satellite 2455-S305 laptop that had the harddrive die. Problem is I am unable to locate the restore CD's that came with it, and dont have the money to buy (Which I did when I got the laptop) XP again. I contacted Toshiba, and was told I was out of luck, as they WILL NOT send / sell me another restore/recovery cd.


If you have the cd's Im needing I will gladly pay shipping costs for a copy of them.

Yes, I installed a new 100gb drive, and am just looking for a recovery cd set (Copy or original) as I still have the XP sticker on the laptop, so I think I am not asking anything illegal correct?

Please let me know if you can help...I dont want to have to buy XP for this, as some of the nice utils that came with the laptop are not availble/dot install properly with a off the shelf XP.

You might try a store that sells/sold this model. I've obtained a setup cd for hardware, such as an external 802.11g card, from the store that I purchased it from.

It is illegal to sell the restore software without the complete computer it was sold with, mostly due to Microsoft Windows being on it. There is almost no way you will be able to buy the restore software.

That said, we sold 1 copy of 2435 software a few months ago on eBay. Maybe make a eBay favorite search that e-mails you if "Satelite 2455 software" is ever listed. Try to buy it before Microsoft's VeRO team shuts the listing down.

vero shuts it down if OEM software is sold individually, if you sell it with a hardware component, doesnt matter what, it is legal, people usually sell software with a stick of RAM

Microsoft through VeRO can shut down ANY restore software listing with or without a piece of hardware, if the included hardware is not a complete computer.

"Distributing such software with general PC hardware (e.g. hard drive; motherboard) does not comply with Microsoft’s OEM distribution requirements."

We sell restore software on eBay and include the dead motherboard, which keeps it listed a bit longer, but MS still occasionally closes our auctions. Including a piece of hardware is better than nothing though, and wards eBay off a little.

No restore partition? Try contacting ACER, or just install clean and get the drivers for your model from the support site,
