I have a 8100 with the LTN screen and I tested positive on the 2 grey squares test image.
The 3(2 new, 1 probably refurbished) LTN screens I had my hands on also had many slow(?) pixels, I mean when I made them swith from red to black I could see the pixels staying red for +- 1 second. They were spread all over the surface and I could see some lines in it.
The first time I sent in my 8104 they replaced it with an 8106. The replacement did also suffer from the odd issue I stated above. After a month or 2 when trying to live with it the backlight or something broke and they replaced the LCD. Again it had the odd slow pixel thing and I sent it in again. It came back unrepaired with the despatch note it was tested for 48h and no problems with the LCD were found. The acer guy I called told me all I could have seen was within the specifications, when asking for why did they replaced it the first time he said they were in need of time that period.

Now a couple of months later I accidentally let the laptop make a jump and the screen was completely broken.

Now i am paying 100 euro to get it replaced I asked what types of LCD's were possible to be build in the 8100. She named me 2 types that were in stock, both LTN. When I asked for the Quanta QD1... LCD she said it wasnt a 8100 standard LCD and I could void my warranty if I wanted that one to be built in. After she discussed with a repair engineer he would build in the QD1 and I was able to keep my warranty. Cheers to the lady who did a great job for me.
Now I hope all screen issues are definately OVER. Can anyone tell me how the QD1 screen behaves against the LTN in terms of power consumption, as some say it is much more brighter ? Thank you
