"powerule is the one you love to hate".
That pretty much sums up his post.

In answer to your question, I ordered mine on 2-17-06 and *did* get the LG screen -- got the UXGA and the upgraded NVidia video, if that makes any difference.

Would the fact that they're shipping with the better LG screens be a good reason to return the E1705 I've got right now?

How do you determine the make of the LCD panel? I just got my 1705 yesterday and want to know more of what exactly I have got.
thanks!

I want to be part of the WUXGA OCD community since I have a Samsung LCD.

Agen, there are some screens that are REALLY bad, I'm picky but I can let things slide, I like to think though, when I spend $2,000 on a laptop, that the screen would be blcak where it should. True there are some people that are way to packiy, but those are the people that return the laptop, and in turn makes dell see that there is some thing going on. With out these people we would always get bad screens. I think the returns are so high becasue of the screens that dell did some thing about it to quit losing money.

My E1705 WUXGA was shipped to me on Feb 22 and I got the Samsung screen. It has a small bit of light leakage along bottom but the screen itself is stunning and I am very happy with it.

i have not got my laptop yet be herertomorrow but i found service tag and here what I got

YD477 LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17, WXGA+, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., LG PHILIPS LCD

Is this going to be ok for WXGA?
that is going to be perefect, you are lucky to get that screen, that is the screen that does not have any light leakge and is the best one
post #19 of 34
so... the only thing better with the lg screen is the light leakage???

honestly I have the samsung, and the light leakage is minimal, the color is now calibrated with hardware and it's a LOT better than stock adjusment
post #20 of 34
the most important thing is image quality side by side (samsung, lg) when both screen is pro calibrated, if anyone here can prove that the lg is better than the samsung in quality I will be the first to ask for a replacement, but after reading everything about this psychosis, I have conclude that this is all about the leakage.
