I know this isnt new news, but there is a beta patch out atm 1.1beta for quake 4.
It fixes a few things inc 16:10 support (I was on 1.0) and enables dual core/HT support.
Check out the reviews around or try it yourself. The performance is amazing.
1920x1200 at high quality with no slow down. The game plays fantasticly well.
Dual core support for games

Thanks for the heads-up! Even though I'm a solo user, the 16:10 support will help.

it also enables Xram use for those of you with Xfi cards.

disables the need for a cd/dvd in the drive also.

I checked the patch details in the Quake website...doesnt say anything about it enabling anything for dual core's there :\

Or am I reading this wrong?

Anybody get this to work with core duo?

I tried it last night, and it wouldn't let me enable dual core support (under advanced options in the settings).

D'oh! The dual core option wouldn't highlight when I moused over, but it does let me click on it and turn it on.... Much better.

Good question. Quake doesn't have a build-in benchmark like doom did, so let me see if I can download one and compare....

Maybe on single core crank it right up and play. Then enable dual support. Itll onlt test the 'feel' tho.

I downloaded a benchmark here:

http://www.hocbench.com/q4.html

It took forever to download, and then it crashed when I ran it, but I was able to use their canned demo with timedemo.

I didn't OC the GPU, since I just want to test the CPU.

At 1920x1200, there was no difference between single and dual core. 46 FPS for both.

At 640x480, there was about a 10% difference. 91 FPS for single core, and 99 FPS for dual core.

Somebody else might want to try a different bench and see what they get.
