Bios Flashing 7800 and OC to 500/1000Mhz - Page 6

post #101 of 276
Have you set up your autoexec.bat to run nvflash and flash the backup ROM? It'll just sit there and do nothing after booting if you don't set it up to run a program.
post #102 of 276
BTW, I've gone through the trouble of putting AS5 on both my CPU and GPU, and haven't noticed much of a difference in temps playing HL2 at stock clock settings. I even did a basic lapping job on the GPU heatsink. So, if you're contemplating doing this mod I'd say don't bother.

Waste of a couple hours for me. YMMV.

I may or may not try the overvolting mod. I'll have to decide.

Yep, actually I figured out how to get it to boot to the cd using the ISOs posted here. It starts up like it should, accesses the drive then beeps twice. I've tried pressing Y or Z or enter but nothing seems to get it to flash.

EDIT: If I type in nvflash oc.rom, beeps 3 times.

OK, it's beeping, but what is it telling you on your screen? A little hard to help with only part of the info in hand.

I have no screen.

Whenever I type in nvflash backup.rom it beeps twice.

Oh, I checked the files in another computer and its listed as backup.rom and 7800-13.rom.

When I ran the program it beeped once for me.

No idea why you're not seeing anything on your screen, that's very odd. I can see everything.

Ah its ok. I'll just send it to Dell. I think I should maybe make a accidental warranty claim. Maybe smash it up so they can see whats been done to it?

Obviously the video card is trashed. I doubt they'll be able to see it was modded.

Oh BTW, my hard drive is staying with me too. So they cant see whats on it. Hehe...

So, your problem started after you flashed it. What did you flash it to, if you don't mind me asking?

Hi peter,

im your friend from notebook-forum.info
You did a great job with this isos and modified roms - nice to know that you finally choice the right way to change the voltages.

VID 04 stands for about 1,2V - okay, so its time to mod my 6800 Ultra Go

bye

Hmmm, so we have a copycat forum usurping our knowledge and claiming it as their own?!?! Interesting!!!
post #115 of 276
ok just flashed it bios 1.3 let's see what i will get on 3mark05 and 06
post #116 of 276
@JaxChris
"our knowledge" - what have you done for this mod? Yes, nothing!!!
peter-pan has done everything, the 7800 go bios mods and the isos - perhaps you used his knowledge to flash your card, but thats everything!
Think what you want - peter-pan and i discussed that mod via PMs at notebook-forum.info, thats all, nothing more...

bye

This thread makes me LOL...

I don't think anyone's trying to claim Peter's work for their own. Definately nothing worth getting in a tissy over.

BTW, I just got done with a multi-hour session on HL2 with my 1.2v modded BIOS @ 400/900 and templogger shows it didn't get over 89*

@Peter
Yeah, I know 2D mode is going to go up to 81*, the fan will kick in and then the temps will drop. AS5 will do nothing to remedy this. However, I noticed that under load the temps stayed relatively the same, maybe a TAD lower but nothing to write home about. It was worth a shot, right?

What do you want, sorry dont understand.. my english is not perfect but gonly good..

@Pink and Brain -Amras..
schön dich hier wieder zu sehen.. hast du den Jax verstanden? Was will der?
PS: Deine VID Tabelle hat gestimmt, habe sie auch nochmal mit NetGic abgeklärt.. Danke nochmal.

Sorry for my german speak here, but its no interesting things about this Volt Mod. Just privat with AMras

@Peter-Pan

So back to English - are you really sure that the VID 04 stands for 1,2V and the VID 00 for 1,0V?

I will try the VID-00-mod with my 6800 Ultra Go - to save energy and decline the temps of my card in 2D-Mode

@Peter-Pan

Marco
