Bios Flashing 7800 and OC to 500/1000Mhz - Page 11

Just a question...is it possible to use a DVD+RW or CD-RW when burning the images? Or do I have to use a CD-R?

BTW: The links on bottom of page 4 doesnt work. Plz somebody host those files somewhere else!

That would be great as I've been looking for it as well...

Ya I really need the 1.2 iso.
I was trying to make a 1.2 .rom but NBiTor does not allow for the 1.2 option. Only shows 1.1 and 1.3volts.

Anyone got any ideas?

I currently have my 7800go at 490c/1300m w/ the 7800GTX bios (1.3v). It scores around 3900 on 3dmark06. Running the mem @ 1350 blue screens. I can also run the core @ 499c, but I don't want to run it at its max limit. I have AS5 on the gpu core and am running I8KFangui w/ the GPU fan on high. Throttle speed/volt is set at 250c/658m/1.1v. It runs up to 95 degrees centigrade max, which kinda worries me but its been stable. Idles temp is 65 degrees centigrade (stock 100c/658m/1.1v).

Are you serious? That is an insane overclock to the memory. So you actually used the 7800 gtx in the 7800 vanilla and it worked? Can you game with those clock without losing performance?
Yea I can game well. The GTX bios pushes the thermal throttling threshold to 115 degrees centigrade. 490c/1300m is almost double what dell clocks the card at. I just worry about the high temps when gaming.

O wow that card is hot! In temperature and performance per dollar
Can you check if you unlocked the other pipes with the BIOS flash and post some pictures? I will like to try this, but I don't want to risk bricking my friend's video card.

@PcGeek04

Hi,
you have to set the vid manually - the VID 04 should stand for about 1,2V.
This is how the moded bios files from peter-pan are manipulate. The VID stands for the internal vcore of the GPU. Normally VID 02 is 1,1V and VID 06 is 1,3V - so VID 04 should be 1,2V - and yes it works

Bye pinky.and.brain

Those locked pipes are still locked. I tried with Rivatuner. No dice. What do you want to see in the pics?
Does VID 05 = 1.25v? If it is I might try that to get my 3d temperature down a bit.
It should be about 1,25V - but sure lower than vid 06

Stock Volts doing pretty Good!!!

Hello everyone I have been a long time Old School Overclocking on desktop systems and just a little over a year messing with laptops, starting from my 1st laptop emachines M6811 to my recently acquired E1705/9400, I chose this lappy because I had bought my girl a 9300 w/6800 in it and I thought it was a great laptop so when I had a chance to pick one up from DELL with my business account for $948 New, I jumped all over it. Well back to the point of clocking I have been tweaking around for the last couple of days, I have used coolbits, riva tuner, and ati tool. The max stable lasting core setting I have reached on this thing is 385 MHz and 950 MHz on the memory, at highest full load temps I get is 83’ I have been reading everyone else’s, What did I get the pick of the litter or something, to get the settings stock? Now as we all know riva tuner doesn’t unlock the pipes, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried flashing to the GTX bios successfully? That’s something intriguing.

Dell Inspiron E1705/9400:Intel T2300 1.6 Dual core, 2GB DDR2-667, 100GB 7200rpm SATA, 17” WXGA+, SigmaTel 9200 Sound, Intel Pro wireless, Win XP MCE,

If you overclock your core higher you'll see your temps go higher too.

Hey SargentNg, you dont happen to have the bios you used to flash your gpu to a GTX? If so can you hook me up with it if ya dont mind. Did you use NVflash? I assume it auto set your volts to 1.3 right? and did you leave it as is or used anything else for cooling besides leaving fan on always, Let em know, thanx!

It might but the 7800go has 16 pipes or 2 quads lock/disabled/or damaged. So it allows the core to be clocked hire B/C of the 16 vs 24 pipes on the 7800GTX.
Yea I figured having the 2 sets of 4 pipes disabled would let the the core MHz go higher after flashing, from what I see the GO chips are unlockable thru software unlike the desktops, I haven’t been able to find anything on the net about anyone unlocking them. I would like to run the card around 400 core 1000 memory.

Do a search in this forum for the gtx bios. There's an iso in one of the posts w/ a whole bunch of files for different speeds.

My 7800go has been giving me issues with Oblivion and HDR... so I now I've changed my clocks to 495c/1250m. Runs fine now and my 3dmark06 score is still around 3950. My temps go up to 97 degrees now though.
Ok here is what happened, flashed to 1.3 volts got up to 475/950 (I did'nt bother to see if i could go higher because at any speed from 375 to 475 would make the temp go past 83' and the vid card would slow down, does anyone think i should reflash with the temp threshold at 100' or is that just pushing it? at 1.1volts im at 380/940 which isnt to shabby. Also tried flashing with 7800GTX bios and wont let it, says that id dosent match. Do i need to change the id on the GTX bios to the vanilla Id? Let me know somebody, thanx.
