My 1437G blew up after an hour of use

Well I bought an M1437G off somebody who had never even taken it out of the box since xmas, I was the first person to turn it on.
Anyway I got it home, was using it and everything was fine, after an hour or so it cut out and wouldnt turn back on, no charging light, nothing.

I try taking the battery out and leaving it a while, still nothing, I try plugging the charger back in one last time and still nothing. Anyway I left it plugged in and went to cook my tea, 15 minutes or so on, I come back into the room and find all the lights are flashing and the screen is flickering, accompanied by the smell of burning electronics.

I figure this notebook is toast, so onto the warranty. (FYI I am in the UK). I put the serial number into the warranty entitlement checker on the FJC website, and it tells me it has 3 years collect&return warranty on it. I am not the origonal owner of this notebook so what (if any) repurcussions (sp?) does that have on getting it repaired under warranty? I would hope they will fix it for me no questions but you know what these people are like.

I presume I should just phone up the helpdesk number thats on the little warranty booklet to arrange for collection?

Thanks
Simon

Well all i know is that the warrantly is only valid for the person who bought the laptop and they must provide a receipt of purchase or delivery note with laptop serial number on...

so if I get the reciept I'll be able to have it repaired?

Only if it has your name and address on it...
The reason I know is that I sold a M3438G recently and I rang up the warrantly helpline to see if I could transfer the warranty and they said that the warrantly is only valid for the person who bought it so im sorry to be bearer of bad news but your gonna be out of luck I think...

There is stuff on futitsu forums about people in your situation, none of which had any joy. I suggest you ask the person you bought it from if they would send it in...
