Search: Firmware for Dell DVD Burner I bought through Dell Spare Parts

Hi guys

I bought myself a new DVD Burner through DELL and the specs are ok so far, 8x +- RW and DL.
However the model is very strange.
Did anybody ever hear about that one:
TSSTcorp DVD+-RW TS-L532B

Is that a Toshiba one and does anybody know where to get new firmware for that one

Any help would be great

Hi

Thanks for the answer. I think, to avoid further problems with new firmware, I will call Dell and get the drive exchanged for another one as by reading the forum posts this drive simply sucks.

Hopefully I can get a NEC this time
If anybody knows something else please let me know

Good decision--go for the NEC. And you're welcome.

Yep. The NEC drive is a very good one.

FWIW: The NEC ND-6750A is only $80 from newegg.com

HI

The problem is I am in Germany so it is kind of more difficult to order form here.
Does anybody maybe know a possibility for me, like ordering the drive in Germany somewhere?

Thanks guys

UPDATE:

Oh and I need it to fit into my DELL directly, I don't think the drive from newegg will right?

...

Hello,
1st: just contact newegg and ask about shipping to germany (I've already ordered and got a lot of parts from over there)
2nd: no troubles with upgrade - just build in 'n enjoy

Hello,

Can somebody tell me the exact model number of the NEC drives that are shipping with the new Latitude D610/810's and inspirons. The drive has a grey facia, but the one in the link looked black. Myself and others in the company are all starting to have issues with the TSST drives so would like to get them swapped with the NEC ones, but we need all the identification info poss!

Thanks.

Once again this forum proves it's worth. I'll have to call DELL. I have the TSST drive and it's awful. Trouble reading and writing to disks is like rolling dice.

Yup exactly the same.

I have identified the NEC drives to be: DVD+-RW-6650A drives made in China
