If you live outside of the US then do a search through Google for Clevo/Kapok/Chembook(?) or go to Clevo's web site and find a Clevo dealer or a dealer that has the Clevo model as one of their own labels. This way you get the power without the loss of a dealer/repair center.

As far as the rest of us who live in the US are concerned its just an incovience, not a major stumbling block to ownership of the Sager line.

Just be aware that like any machine there are going to be trade offs in perfomance or expectations and sometimes compromise has to be made to get to where you want to go. No machine is perfect. So use this info along with the reviews section to help you make an informed buying decision.

I can think of several consultants who say they've never had a moment of problems with their Sagers and a BIL that has one with no problems. Of course, these guys have never tried to overclock them or otherwise tweak them to push the performance envelope either.

the company my father works for(concrete wall co.) exclusively uses sager notebooks, and has done so for 8 years without incident.

That is incorrect. I emailed Tom@PCT in regards to this because I'm currently living in Japan. There's a place within an hour's drive of me that sells Clevos, but I wouldn't trust them to be able to turn a laptop on, much less troubleshoot one (while trying to explain it to me at the same time). Therefore, I'm still considering PCT as my source for my next purchase.

Tom had this to say about international warranties and shipping:
Extended warranties are available, actually, although because they're
registered in the U.S. you'll still have to pay shipping both ways to
exercise them from another country. International shipping is essentially
bound by this rule: the customer is responsible for all shipping costs.

They are available, however the shipping both ways'd probably cost more than the cost of the warranty itself. Personally, I'd like the comfort of a warranty, but at the same time, am screwed by the distance. Yet again, will I be in Japan for the next 3-4 years? No clue. If I returned to the States, I'd be in fine shape. So it's a toss up. And I think that's what everyone has to do- determine how much risk they're willing to take.

Personally, I do enough traveling and whatnot that I'll take the gamble with the warranty.

Yes. My 8890 went back within the first 3 days of owning it. Couldn't play a game (not even Max Payne at low res. levels). I had to threaten to have my money refunded before they sent me a new one.

My new 8890 has no problems and plays games smoothly

Maybe we should move this poll to a forum not based in Florida

Yes, he's verified by email address (sales@alienware) to be with Alienware. Why he voted that he has multiple RMAs as a Sager owner I have no idea. Either he owns a Sager or it was an accident which we should be nice to assume =).

Oh, and BTW... yes these results are not consistent with what we see on this end. There are a lot of RMAs but not at this ratio the poll shows. You need an RMA # to do anything from upgrading RAM, to replacing a key cover that wore its letter off. RMA doesn't mean you have to send the unit in, it just means they send you an item you need and you return the part or piece if possible.
