Can One Purchase a Video Card for an m7700?

I have acquired an Area-51 m7700 which has an ATI X800 256MB video module which just failed. I have tried reseating the card as instructed to no avail. Is there a source for purchasing compatible cards? In a related question, how do I determine the motherboard version?

take the keyboard off and you will see the model number of your mobo on a sticker. There are 3 pins above the f2 f8 and scroll lock keys respectively. You can detach your keyboard using a precision screwdriver. Other than that, all i can suggest is calling up the techs at alienware. abt the graphics card, i honestly dont have a clue.

For the mobo rev, on the 7700, turn her over, remove the cover over the RAM and there will be a sticker that shows the revision. No need to do what AlienMan is suggesting. I think I have a pic somewhere of mine from a while ago....

You can probably purchase from Sager, Clevo, AW, PC Torque, etc... Depends on which card you want to buy, as some are motherboard limited. AW will not service secondhand machines...as far as I know, maybe that just applies to warranty repairs. Call them and ask.

Hey I've got a 6800 Ulta 2 months but never used FOR SALE! I was able to grab a 7800 GTX and I upgraded with that instead. ANYONE looking to upgrade their video card to a 6800 ULTRA PLEASE CONTACT ME!

Asking $400 firm (paid $450) and you cover the shipping. I am guaranteeing it won't be a DOA, who can beat a deal like this?
