So I just got a Lenovo Yoga 13. This is my review.
As what I primarily do is writing and programming, having a good keyboard is critical for me, which is why a tablet alone can’t work for me, and...
I have owned dozens of laptops in a variety of brands, and had many different laptops provided for my use at work. Without question, this is the finest I have owned. The Alienware M17x R2 is a...
Lenovo Thinkpad W530 Review

One of the longest and most enduring brands in computers is Thinkpad. Originally developed by IBM in the USA, Thinkpad notebook computers are now...
With my new E1704 I am getting the Media Edition OS, How does this newer OS compare to XP Pro? Going to be reformatting the laptop when I get the upgraded 7200 RPM HD.
I helped prove it a couple times in these forums that Media Center is XP Pro. All the XP Pro services and functions are there. Some just have to be unlocked (like joining Domains) because Microsoft's Media Extender couldn't operate over a Domain and they limited that feature. All the other XP Pro goodies are there also.
Also, if you insert your MCE2005 disc to install - and give it an XP Pro CD Key - it'll install XP Pro. The MCE2005 disc's serve both purposes.
Name a feature you can do with Pro, but not with Home or MCE2005 and I'll tell you how you can do it with MCE2005 to prove it's Pro.
That is final!!!
(BTW, try actually using the installer for MCE2005... the damn installer screens say XP PROFESSIONAL EDITION)
You have a streamlined Dell DVD. Not a real OEM install package Xarthan. But the same goes to you, if you want to name a feature from XP Pro that you need unlocked just say so.
I'll have to grab it off my other machine Dellbert, but I'll hook you up when I get over to it. It's a very simple process. Just requires a few reboots and a couple changes. You won't lose any data and doesn't require a fresh/partial reinstall like the original method.

o i already know MCE is XP Pro, i was just wondering about the install thing.
Yes, it is completely the same + extras. Microsoft just removed the domain support to prevent decreased business sales revenue.
Dell gets a good enough deal with Microsoft so that MCE2005 costs them the same price per unit as XP Home. The smaller companies pay about the same price as they do for XP Pro. So MCE2005 is basically XP Pro for consumers and XP Pro is currently the workstation OS. Then you have Server for obivous reasons, and XP Home is for non-savvy users.
isnt funny how we have to specify NON savvy when referencing "USERS" even though most computer geeks strive and feel pain if ever referred to as a "USER"
that term is actually a major insult in my circle of cohorts...
