The truth is that if when the machine is purchased and Alien Adrenaline was not on the orders, it can not be purchased or installed on the machine. If it is installed, it immediately voids the warranty.

But if it was purchased and the pc doesn't have it or it got erased, you can request it in the forums or on our Alien Chat System and they will send it to your e-mail.
Hello Juan,
There has been alot of talk on the forum that if you use Alien Adrenaline and overclock it is covered under warranty, but if you use powerstrip it is not. From reading the Alienware Knowledge Base it appears that if you use any program including Adrenaline to overclock it voids the warranty. Link: AW KB Can you elaborate on this so that people on this board do not get the impression it is O.K. to over clock with Adrenaline if that is not true. Granted some of the speculation may be that you would have to trace the GC issue back to Overclocking. Just curious if we pick up Adrenaline and end up with a fried graphics card for whatever reason, will there be a problem with the warranty? I for one will probably not overclock but it would be nice to have Adrenaline for the ability to save color schemes, but not at the cost of putting a 3 year warranty in jeopardy.

Thanks

Ok, from my understanding on the AlienAdrenaline is that if the card is messed up, you basically lose the card and need to purchase a new, but the whole system warranty is still intact.

That is the reason why we say that AlienAdrenaline needs to be purchased with the PC and can't be added to your order after your machine is done.

Juan, has anyone there come closer to finding a solution to the grainy DVD playback? All Ive read on the official forum form warner or whoever just says to play witht he overlay settings. This helps but comes far from fixing it. The picture is still noticable grainy...definatley not what I'd expect from a $3k machine. Is it caused by no drivers for the monitor?

Kind of like how it does when you go through all of the colors. I think it might help you guys out a bit on your end as well. I'm sure you get a few orders that get into the later phases and end up having to go back because that person has decided to get the 16" screen rather the 15.4" or vice versa.
Just so I understand correctly, if I choose EXTREME it will have the 16.1", there isn't an option to select a 15.4" except if you choose ENTHUSIAST or PERFORMANCE. So basically it is here where you are choosing your screen size by selecting EXTREME | ENTHUSIAST | PERFORMANCE?
I agree that it should show the LCD size and a picture of the system (FRONT AND BACK ) during configuration.

TO tell you the truth Hornet, I personally haven't been "introduced" to this issue.

Only thing I will tell you will be that just wait until they resolve it. I will send an e-mail to whomever is in charged of these issues and see if I get a response.

More likely what will happen is when they do find the fix, they will post them on the Alienware Forums

I agree as well, e-mail our customer support and tell them of the suggestion. The more they hear of improvements or issues, the better for all.

Juan,

The issue is the following:

With the DVD +RW drive when you try to install/play/read 90% of games you get the following error:

"authentication failed"

this also occurs with soem CD's and DVD's.

if you go to the support forums you will see several people distrought over this.

i emailed AW asking if there was a fix and if my laptop would be shipped with this problem since i am getting the laptop for gaming use, so this would be a problem.

they said it may not ship with a fix.

so i was wondering what the status of the fix was?

Here is the email i got from AW:

"In regards to your question I cannot assure you that your system will be
shipped with or without this fix. As I mentioned in my prior e-mail we
are working on a fix for this issue

Thanks alot Juan!

Granted this may not be what alot of people on the forum wanted to hear. But better now than when they try to get there card replaced.

It kinda seems like adding Adrenaline to the order is going to void the Graphics Card Warranty. I probably will not get Adrenaline, nor will I use Powerstrip. Is there any system warranty issues we should consider if we DO NOT get Adrenaline, and DO NOT Overclock?

Thanks for your help on clearing this up, it says alot in my book that AW monitors this forum. It's appreciated!

Some people may have a use for AlienAdrenaline and some don't. The software was made to work with our systems, so the issues on burning out your card are slimmer than if you use other software or do it yourself.

And as you said it can also be used for you color scheme, so it actually is a nice program to have.

Only issues I can see if you do not get AlienAdrenaline would be if you try overclocking yourself or using other software for that purpose and mess something up, than you void your warrany, but beyond that, I do not see any warranty issues.

Again Thank You
Your responses on this forum support my reasoning for buying into AW. Hopefully by the end of the week?

Juan, i responded to your PM, any word on that issue?

Not sure if Juan is still lurking about here, but here goes:

Do you know how the warrenty is affected by using a plain vanilla PowerStrip, NOT for overclocking, but for other tweaking; that is to say, to use PowerStrip to mess with colour settings among other things.

Hello Guspaz:

What basically would happen, if the third party software that you installed damages a componant, for example the video card, it would void the warranty on the card.

So if it is used for overclocking and it damages it, than yes, the warranty is voided.

That is only the wararnty onthe card right the rest would still be intact wouldn't it and you would just be responsible for replacing the card. I'm also assumming just using the software willnot void the warranty just any damage caused by it.

This was on Page 3 of this thread from back in Febuary, I think in answers you question. I only remember because that was one of my questions.
