Pretty much the conclusive rundown on these three drivers all based on the 3.10 cats. Omega pretty much dominates

I'm sure the 4.1 Omega's will be a nice addition to the arsenal of ATI drivers

driver this driver that . I'm beggining to think its just a placebo, and they just increase the file size by adding in useless extra crap . Untill they fix the see threw ground issue in battlefield1942 will i accept an improvement . But seriously, the 4.1's are the best i've seen visually, havent tested the performance though.

Well, I liked how the the omegas performed benchmark-wise, until I actually started using it. They must have stripped out half of the OpenGL programming, because my favorite program, Blender, started acting as if it were being run on a 200mhz machine... Blender is completely OpenGL based, even the menus are OGL2D... The performance was absolutely atrocious, having almost a 2 second lag between click and response.

The 4.1's seem to do very well. I was playing Vice city earlier, and it just seems slightly smoother, better running. Maybe it was the placebo effect, I can't prove anything, but I like the 4.1's... Blender runs well too, so I'm happy

Isn't Blender that game making program?
Im sure thats what it was called. I heard about it years ago but never really got around to trying it out.

Thanks for the link bratag .

Blender's for 3d-modelling, but it used to have a game engine built-in, so you could make games. After it made the transition to open source, the game engine couldn't make it into Open source, so they're trying to make replacements, which should very soon be implemented into blender again. Take a look at http://www.blender.org for more information

BTW, my avatar was made in blender with yafray as the renderer. Blender and yafray are currently being integrated... It's going to be a great program!

Problem

When I try to install the Cat 4.1 it says that the correct hardware or components could not be found, then proceeds to close and says to cehck if it properly installed which im sure it is. What should i do i realli want the cat 4.1 they seem to be the best addition yet?

Ahh thats better. Ok this has been answered many many many times before but since I am a good person and you seem to lack the ability to use the search button here we go again.

1) Remove existing drivers/ati consoles - reboot
2) Extract the catalyst .exe into a directory.
3) Manually install the drivers by using the "Have Disk" option and pointing to the directory you just extracted the .exe into. It will give you a list of cards you want the 9600 if you are using a 9600 etc etc
4) Manually install the console by running the setup exe in the console directory underneath the directory you unzipped the catalyst .exe to.
5) See the following posts

I thought it would be more of a sharp crack, especially with how cold the weather is in CT. Anyways, while Bratag is such a great guy, I really do suggest searching whenever you have a question, it cuts down on a lot of threads. Plus, by reading the stuff you have found from search, you will become more knowledgeable and an all around better person, I think....

Back to topic. I would really recommend using the Omega Drivers when they come out. I have always had better luck with those tweaked drivers than with the regular Cat's. Just my experience.
