The same argument CAN be brought up when buying a car and ANYTHING else. Family Car or Ferrari? McDonalds or some posh restaurant? Nike pants or Speedos? I understand the hate someone feels for for a certain company, and Turkish Mafia clearly demonstrates he hates Alienware. Don't argue with him, we can't try to change his mind, not much point. There are somethings we hate too and no matter how much convincing it won't really change our minds about something.

Robo-Kai, I appreciate your understanding, but I would just like to make it clear that I dont hate alienware (hate is a strong word). I just don't like it for theses reasons 1) Unlike Hypersonic it does not offer lifetime support 2)There are many cases in which the laptops malfunction out of the box 3) It uses cheap parts 4) Screen quality is HORRIBLE, i mean my Dell Inspiron 8200 has a 400:1 contrast ratio as opposed to the 250:1 contrast ratio of alienware. (Also the 15.4 screen is soooooo bad that I am not even gonna talk about it) 4) All this costs about $3500-3800. So much money for so many deficiencies. 5) Alienware does not do many quality tests (if it in fact does any) 6) Customer support is very arrogant and blaming (as my friends have experienced). I mean why pay this much for this piece of junk with so many deficiences, when you can get more for your money from companies such as Hypersonic and Sager. Also same with Voodoo. Voodoo is not much different from Sager and Hypersonic, yet it costs sooo much money. On top of that so many people who have ordered Voodoo's have had problems out of the box. I mean when you pay $3000 or more (or even $2500) the least a person can expect from a company is to send a laptop that works, and is worth the price. I mean am I wrong? And plz if there are any Alienware representatives/moderators who see my msg, plz respond to this msg. And once again Robo--Kai thnx for ur understanding.

O yea, and also one thing that I forgot to mention is, that the extra 2 speakers that you get in the 15.4 screen (of Alienwares) makes a negligable difference in speaker performance (in fact I dont think it makes a difference at all). Guys der is no need in bashing me. I am writing no lies. These are the experiences of many people I kno and don't know, including many computer gurus. I just trying to tell people the truth and save them from spending their money only to get frustrated. The most frustrating thing that my friend experieces is with Alienware's warranty. Alienware does not offer lifetime support. So after ur warranty ends, lets so you have a basic problem, and you call up alienware, you will be charged for ur phone call. And wats more annoying is that they will put u on hold for such a basic problem for so long, just to make you pay more for the call. Like I said guys, go with Hypersonic or Sager who have excellent warranties, excellent customer service and representatives and quality parts.

I think all those people who consider buying Alienwares should read that thread.

PS
My new Hypersonic Aviator ZX7 should be arriving very shortly and I'll surely be taking quality and detailed pics of it and writing a full review of it, so you guys can compare it to the "Mighty" (sarcasm) Alienware.

turkish mafia,
I understand what youre trying to say as well. Some people do have the "out of the box problems" which does reflect poorly on Alienware. I dont know the specifics on some of the other remarks you made but I'll assume they may be true. I recently recieved my alienware and Im happy with it. I dont have much to judge it against except posts like this one, since it is my first laptop.

I think the remarks you made are acceptable, you didnt just start bashing alienware for nothing. After all, this thread is called "is alienware worth it?"

People should be able to post their feelings and judgements without worrying about being attacked over it. Lets try and keep this civilized because as Craig said, it does cost the site legitimacy points when a passerby sees the negative remarks poeple make.

Yes Armus you are right, but I am just trying to save people money. I am real happy for you that you are happy with your laptop, and I wish you the best of luck and fun with it. But, you see you are one of the happy customers versus that many unhappy customers. So I guess, I could say that buying from Alienware is a gamble. Again have fun with ur laptop .

Thanks, but if I want your help in saving my money I'll ask for it. And since when was everything about the money?

Time-pilot, i dunt care if u ask me or not. I am sure there are people out there trying to make a decision for buying a good laptop (or desktop), and they are surely looking for threads like this one. So maybe it won't help you, but it will help another person, cause threads like these sure did help me before I bought my laptop.

Aliengreen I dunt kno what u are talking about. All I have to say is your computer is screwed up, because I go on the Hypersonic website on a daily basis to check my order status, and so far its only been down once. Also, even if the Hypersonic site was periodically down, at least when you order a laptop from them u get something better, and dont have to pay $500 more.

So this would be considered a "Trolling" thread here...once again. So so negative.

Ok - i would like to read more about your hypersonic. But the last time I tried their link the site was not available.

Why don't you help them first with their server?

PS
Time-pilot, I never said everything is about money. Personally I think reliabilty, and performance are more important than money, but some people have to keep a budget and this thread is for them. Even if you have $5000 to spend, why by a laptop that is a piece of junk from alienware. I kno some people will say "I have an alienware laptop and it works fine." Well, maybe urs does but lots of people's doesnt (including many of my friends'). So why go through all the hassle of trying to fix ur laptop, dealing with poor customer service, and sending ur laptop back for repairs? I sure don't know anyone who would wanna go through BS like that.

Now there are some people out there that will say, the money doesn't concern me. Well, if the money doesn't concern you, I am sure the performance will. First of all the area51m display sux. It has a 250:1 contrast ratio (the UXGA). My piece of junk Dell Inspiron 8200 has a 400:1 contrast ratio. The screen looks so dull compared to many other companies. On top of that I've had friends who own alienware laptops (and desktops) and their customer service is horrible, and not to mention arrogant. I was planning to buy an alienware, but then I saw another wonderful company called hypersonic pc (www.hypersonic-pc.com). I really think you should go with that company rather than alieware. The hypersonic laptops have much better screen quality, and quality products, and not to mention choices of paint. Or, if you don't have the money for a Hypersonic, den go with Sager. Sager is a great company. However, Hypersonic has advantages to it which make it better than Sager. All of you Sager owners out there say all these companies buy from Clevo. You're, but Hypersonic uses quality parts, and uses a cooling system called Arctic Silver 5 which cools the laptop down by about 8 Degrees Celcius (this is besides the fans). Anyway, if you're into buying a computer go with Hypersonic, Sager, or another company. But I warn you DO NOT go with alienware. They are nothing but arrogant people who know nothing about their own systems (I mean the representatives). Well I hope all u buyers out der make the right choice.

Turkish, so according to this post you have never had an Alienware... you are only feeding us this BS from people you "don't know" hmmm you such a reliable source.... As someone on this forums has once said a happy perosn tells none... an unhappy person tells 10.... Untill you go buy an alienware for yourself and get some first hand experience shut up and stop "directing" peopls decisions on topics you dont know crap about.

Would you people give it a rest with the sarcastic remarks! First, it doesnt matter who asked what, turkish mafia is giving advice. Second, this site isnt about throwing smart remarks back and forth. Enough with the bickering.
(ps: turkish mafia, you did mention money in the first post on this page.)

I looked at alot of laptops, and wanted something Original, Fast, and looks good but be reasonably priced for what it offers. Area-51M blends right in the middle of what i wanted. plus the GPU is upgradable. remember this is no centrino laptop. so it's not thin and light styled like a zippo lighter and fits in your pocket. lol, no, this is made to be a protable power monster. i mean sager is good, hypersonic is okay, VoodooPC looks awsome!, but it's up to you the consumer about the what's and why's to buy, because it fits and molds to who you are.

CharlieBox, this is the only Nick I use. And as for you aliengreen watch your language. I am being nice and polite about everything, and there is no need for you to get nasty. Second of all I've used my friend's alienware for 1 week, and since he lives right next to me I use it quite often. And besides that I have many other friends, who have experienced the problems I am talking about, and I have personally witnessed most of these problems. Also currently I own an Inspiron 8200 and the screen quality on this piece of junk thats not worth anything is so much better than the alienware screen quality, especially considering the fact that Alienware has a 250:1 contrast ratio as opposed to the 400:1 contrast ratio on my Dell.

Of course its ur choice wat to buy. Like Armus said I am just giving advice, not being immature like AlienGreen. Anyway just to let you know Hypersonic is upgradeable and with the paint and stuff it looks beautiful. Most importantly though the inside parts are quality parts.

I'm not going to jump in that bandwagon yet. He doesn't have as many typo's as that other guy. Grammar is different also.

for Turkish,

I suggest a less callous approach in advising people. Be objective and state the facts without pushing your feelings onto others to make it theirs. You sound lke a car salesman bashing another car to sell yours.
