Hi !
I’ve been an Acer Ferrari 4005 user for approx. 3-5 months for now. I’m using (or I’ve been using) dual boot Windows XP Home Edition & Debian Linux (AMD64 Install).
It is all started with a usual installation of System Mechanic on Windows. After I’ve applied a couple of optimizations in it I rebooted the Windows…..and it refused to load. After choosing to load “Windows XP” on Lilo loading just stopped, however linux worked fine.
I’ve tried to connect HD to the Desktop using adapter (mini-IDE IDE) but failed to set up a slave mode on the Acer HD, as desktop PC refused to load with two HDs in Master mode.
Then after I connected laptop Hard Drive back to Laptop again I’ve noticed HD LED permanently powered as “busy” & very slow performance even after pressing F2 to enter BIOS.
I decided to send all the Information I had on Hard Drive to Hell & erased MBR using sdisk software (created boot floppy) After creating two new partitions by SDISK I managed to get new Windows XP installed using Acer recovery CDs…and felt myself almost back happy again…but that was too early to celebrate, as right after several software installations (prepared my PC with ATI Drivers, MS Work Suite etc…) I received: No Operating System Found….
Also booting from SDISK Floppy reported “No HDD found ready”…
And more BIOS does not see HDD at all!!!!
What the heck is happened? Anybody can help me, please?
Thanks,
Sader
P.S. Also this HDD Busy LED Indicator was in the same condition while doing first clean installation of XP, it is actually becoming permanently busy when you turn the laptop on…
P.S.S. I've tried Windows 2K Installation CD & it able to see partitions created during last Installation - just in case this will help.
