well nah i don't believe in that GSes are more overclockable than gtxes ya know

Since some of you managed to put a 7800GTX into the 9400, im sure you can manage to put a 7900GTX into it too

the 7900 gtx will be designed for this core core mother board, so it should just be a drop in issue, but their might be a need for a bios flash and more power to maintain the card. I oc'd yesterday higher again with my new pacific cooling pad, it helped heat allitle , but im waiting for my dvd burner to come in, currently i have 200 megs left on this hd. I scored 1000 pts lower then before, most of that was contributed to cpu speed. goofy . .

I know my score is not super huge just posting my 06 score and specs.
My machine specs are in my sig, this was with volt mod to 1.2 volts, auto detect set my clock and mem to 394/943 I set it down to 390/940 forceware version 84.25. see below for score and temp, I hit prnt scrn as soon as it ended so most likely the temp should be about 2 or 3 degrees higher. I am using fangui beta version 2.3 fans set to high with back end of the lappy propped up for circulation of air. =) Wasnt sure what res to do it at so I did it at two, see pics below.

This last shot is 425/945 1.2volt forceware 84.25 1280x1024

Not a top 20 but I am pretty happy with the performace it is about double that of my i9300 was.

This is on my e1705/7800GTX with mild o/c of 450/1200 on 130W ps/WUXGA/2gb 533/Hitachi 7200 rpm 100gb/T2500

Here's at native 1280X1024
4342

And for you WXGA users
4619

BTW these scores were run on Nividia 84.21 with modified INF

hi all, just got my new i9400 with go7800. i tried both the 1.3 and 1.2 vmod and found pretty much the same result, which is as soon as i get as high as 410/950 my psu shuts down while testing with 3dmark05... in one of the rare trials run when it didn't shut down, on the 1.2 vmod, i got a score of 6301, with a high temp of 86 celsius (my i9kfangui decided to stop spinning the fans in the beginning of the third test, thus raising the temps...).
Any suggestions on how to get past the psu shutdown? Also, since applying the vmod, i9kfangui randomly stops reading some of the sensors, thus giving error messages and halting 3dmark... any help on this too?
I9kfangui is currently not compatible with e1705/9400. The next build will be. Stuff like fans coming on and off randomly, and those temp readings going off and having to go back in and select them are some of the repercussions of using it. Atm its the best thing we have, and it is definitely better than the regular stock fans settings in our bios. I have found what works best for me. In options>status reading just select the minimal stuff you are concerned about so you have less of the error messages. The "force max speed" button doesnt work well for me. They go on high, then go on and off from slow to high every few seconds, which drives me crazy, and cant be good for the fans. What I do for some stability is go to options>autostart>check "enable automatic fan setting" and set the first and second fans speeds to high. When I boot up it automatically puts them on high and they stay there and dont bug out like the force max speed and other options. For now this is about the best advice I can give. Lets hope the next build vs 4 comes sooner than later.

After FINALLY receiving my 7800go vanilla from Dell, being on backorder for a month, I immediatly put it to work with 3DMark 06 and then proceeded to overclock and then voltmod it.
using the Xtreme-G 84.56 drivers with an auto detected OC of 364 core 923 memory I got a respectable 3123.
I used the 1.2 Volt mod and set to 400/923 and managed a 3380 which is respoectable in its own right, top 20. - I should also mention my 90w power adapter fried out on this setting, re-ran the test with the 130w brick.
playing around with the oc settings I came across artifacts on anything with the memory clock set over 950, the core wouldnt go much further at this level then I really got experimental and ran with 450/900 and presto this is my result.

for some reason the higher my core, the lower my memory clock max seems to go. I used the same 1:2 core to memory ratio on my desktop 6600gt setup, which runs stable, and here it seems to work well too.
gonna play with some more settings and see what my Max score will be before I ask SirBA to chalk me up there on the list
post #237 of 278
upon further testing, I maxed out at 460/920, as 465/930 and above artifacts.
so here it is.

3725 3DMark06
84.56 1.2 voltmod 460/920
Post em SirBA please

This beats my old X1400's piddly 823 3DMark06 score by 4.5x!
Marked for later.

Anyone have an alternative link to the files in SirBA's first post? His links are dead.
well, after some tweaking and some trials and errors, I finally have a 3dmark06 score worth posting... 3720 @445/950. I'm running the 1.2V vmod and I was able to keep my whimpy 90W psu running by undervolting the cpu to 1.075V using RMClock 2.05.. Video drivers are Extreme-G 84.56 V3 'custom installed' by me since there is no .inf for the mobile gpus yet.. (hence 3dmark06 'thinks' it is a 7800GTX while in reality my video card is a vanilla 7800go..). The rest of the specs are in my sig.. I think this score places me in 6th place, right? ..and I'm still waiting to get a 130W psu...
