The X1600 with 256mb of memory would sure be nice.
I just realized it's Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 (with up to 256MB of shared memory).
how good is it compared with Intel 900?
I believe that the 950 adds enough stuff to "meet vista" requirements..... not that it can do it well, mind you, but it has SM3.0 and whatnot, so you can see aero, but really slow and clunky-like

Have you seen a 950 run Vista w/ a-glass? I heard that it is not that bad.
No, I have not seen it personally. My statement is based on the fact that the 950 has 4 pixel pipes, and that it shares it's memory (and bandwidth) with the processor.

I do find it interesting that apparently that is enough to turn some visual goodies..... I still wonder about using any of the vista goodies on a laptop, considering the battery life impact of running the 3d engine to do things on the order of opening "my computer."

Hmm, please correct me if I am wrong.

1. There is no WUXGA screen option?

2. If I get E1505 with Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 950 can I replace it later with x1400 or something?

Cool, they went live 2 days early. That's an accomplishment for Dell. Even if they had to hold back on the Dedicated Graphics model in the US (the rest of the world has the x300 128meg - from the I6000D - and the x1400 256meg options already).
wow.... i just had a fkin i6000 land on my doorstep TODAY and now dell has to go and pull this shit! lol dammit!!! Good thing I didnt open it... cause its going back...

Not bad.

Core Duo 1.86GHz
1GB ram
SXGA+ Truelife
100GB 5400rpm HD
DVD burner
Intel Pro wireless network card
2 batteries (6cell and 9cell) - why do people upgrade for $100 to the 9cell when for $30 more you can have both the 6cell and 9cell batteries?

About $1600ish without any discount.

Then add on about $100 for the dedicated gpu (128MB) when it becomes available and you're sitting at $1700 before discounts

So loaded with discounts (say at least a $550 off coupon) and a dedicated gpu card total = $1200ish

I'll take one

godfrey... if you play your cards right... Dell will give you credits and refunds to convince you to keep that system. That can be quite lucrative offers also. It's worth opening the box and powering up the system before you call them.

DavidinkS, the old x300 128meg will only be a 50$ option in the markets that they offer it in. And the x1400 option is 256meg for 100$ more.

But the x1400 part description isn't complete enough to indicate if they will pull a fast one and make it 64meg dedicated and 192meg shared. Most likely they will follow in the I6000D footsteps and it will be all dedicated memory.

JaxChris is correct. Both times I've had to return a Dell laptop, they offered me a couple of hundred bucks to keep it.

Am I blind or is BlueTooth not an option on the 1505?

Well I'm hoping for a x1400 256mb dedicated then.
