I have the SEC5557, since the LG seems to be better I want to see picture if possible, and part number of the best LG screen available for the 9400.

I will ask for a replacement and calibrate (hardware calibration) and take picture of both (samsung and LG) in the same environnement. Maybe this will end the screen psychosis... oh and by the way I will keep the best one!

first time LG screen, but sparkles, sold it. (lots of hassle with paypal, setting up auction, worrying abt getting cheated, shipping it etc)

I bought core solo, samsung screen with leakage. i was quite satisfied, but had a bit psychosis abt the processor being too slow, and screen not too great..

So i decide to return it, had big problems chatting with dell and stuff. lots of stress and worry..

Then bought a dell core duo, which was good, and had to deal with returning the core solo..

Then in the end i shd have just stuck with the first laptop and saved money time and worry

...so anyone with lg screen, part number...

btw... if they send me lg screen replacement and it suck, can I keep my samsung and say something like: well it's worst, so I will keep the samsung, bla bla bla....

I have the Samsung screen and I'm not totally happy with it. It's not very bright and it's a little washed out. I'm thinking about returning the laptop or trying to get an LG screen, but I need to first figure out what qualities the LG has specifically over the samsung.

I dont understand... lots of peoples says that the LG kick ass, but no part number and no picture... nice...

...I just need a freaking part number of the best LG available... I will ask for replacement, test it, calibrate (hardware) take picture plus review, and no more BS about this, just objective arguments.

btw... this thread is pathetic friendly... remember (OCD)

North, what color settings did you end up using on your Samsung? And what tool did you use for the settings (just the nvidia control panel, or something like powerstrip)?

In my experience, the Samsung looks good with a drop in gamma correction. The color temperature is probably a little too warm. On the LG, the color temperature is a bit cold.

I use a professional device that I can borrow for free from the design departement of my university. It's a device that you put on the screen, than run a software, it takes about 15 minutes, and you get perfect calibration... I cant tell about the setting because it's an .icc profil

My screen is set at 6500k, 2,2 gamma, stock lum.

I just want to be more clear on calibration... I hear a lot of people saying that the LG screen show better colors.... but it's easy to get clear and punch color, the only problem is that you get shitty calibration. (sorry for my english, I am from montréal, québec... we speak french )

This is why I wanna know the best LG available, so that I can ask for replacement, then test it

Got it. So, it sounds like you still need to run their software even after the calibration.

The part numbers of both the Samsung and LG are listed in other threads, but last I checked, Dell won't let you request specific LCDs by part number. They'll have a separate part number for a generic "replacement LCD kit", and you never know which panel you're going to get with that.

I wouldn't recommend going through that process -- you'll probably just end up frustrated.

LCD Calibration

Is there a program or something out there than can be used to setup a Laptop LCD screen, like with a series of images or whatever to get good accurate color? I would like to tweak my laptop's screen with the video card controls to get it to look "right."

Thanks!

There are webpages that will help you do that for free... try Google.

Start with something like "LCD Color Calibration Page".
