CPU crash and won't boot

Hi there,

I was burning a cd earlier with an external cd burner (usb) and when I disconnected the power cable to the burner, my computer crashed. Therefore, I never touched the computer directly when it crashed, it inadvertently crashed once I pulled the power cord on the external burner. I'm guessing maybe it overheated or something. My computer will not boot up anymore and I'm not sure what to do. I will be calling about my extended warranty tomorrow; however, is there anything I can try in the meantime? The 3 lights under the monitor no longer turn on, regardless if the power cord is plugged in; although, the green light on the power strib lights up. I also tried disconnecting the battery for 15 seconds and then holding the power button down for a minute but I was unsuccessful. Thanks in advance for any help, greatly appreciated.

Confused????

Your title indicates CPU crash - yet your narrative indicates otherwise.

Are you providing the whole story?

Disconnect the USB device and see what happens.

Indications are that you "surged" the power somhow and may have "fried things". I'm sayin that is the case becuase I often unplud the DVD recorders (External) when I have a run-a-way disk (bad) and need to get access to the machine back.

Also, you explaination of the problem contains a lot of "disclaimers", I wonder why that comes to bear?

Yes very similar, my computer crashed once I unlugged the external drive because cd wouldnt burn any further. Now the computer will not start up or anything. Thanks again!
