any way to disable it until i want to use it?

im currently using a razor mouse...

If I could get that damn trackpad to never come on again I'd be happy. I can use keyboard shortcuts faster than the trackpad because it's not very precise... none are.

As for disabling it... goto Device Manager under the System Control Panel. Under Mice devices you'll see "Alps Touch Pad". Right-click it and select Disable. That's the only sure fire way to keep it out of your hair.

thanks for the advice bro.. i wonder if it will reenable itself upon reboot..

Nope... it will not. And it will also not re-enable itself when you unplug your USB Razor mouse. So get used to navigating by keyboard commands for that "just in case" scenario.

I'm using the touchpad drivers that I downloaded from Dell. On the Devices tab of Mouse Properties, there's a checkbox that says "Disable TouchPad/Stick when a USB pointing device is" (and then it gets cut off, probably by the higher DPI). But, it disables the touchpad automatically when I have a USB mouse attached to my E1705. Very nice for people like me with big hands, or just people who hate touchpads in general.

On my toshiba I can disable it by pressing the following keys: Fn+F9. There must be something similar on you laptops.

The original wording was "my hand keeps rubbing it"... but decided on "palm" instead...

I don't know about the software for this touchpad, but there should be an option to automatically disable the touchpad while you type. I hate touchpads. They are a terrible curse upon our species. I think it would be cool if they could use trackballs instead.

I looked at the Device tab in the Mouse Control Panel... unless your Control Panel was overwritten by a newer Alps driver... I don't see it on mine. Screenshot of the tab on your screen please?
