Carputer switch for Ferrari 4000

Hi people,

Has anybody taken there Ferrari 4005 apart to hook up a cable from the power on switch?

I'm trying to find a way to power lappy on via a 'push to make switch' under stearring colum (Im making a carputer bth).

looking at the laptop mainboard, the power switch is one of those really really small buttons.
I'm wondering how I could attached two pieces of thin wire to it so I can use a switch.

Any help would be very gratefully.

Thanks,
Chris.

Would seek help of a Professional Electronics Technician/Engineer if I were you. No use in risking it...

Well, I found the connetions on the board. Im going to use a glue gun to stick them in place with insulation tape. Really want to do it now but need to leave for work in 10mins!

Thanks for the EE tip. Although, wheres the fun in somebody else doing it for you?

Well, if you're gonna use a glue gun to stick them in place, I garantee you that you will have bad contacts very soon because of the vibrations of your car.
Maybe it stays in place for a few weeks or months, but you will have bad contact sooner or later.
Believe me, I do the repair of electronic measuring equipment and using glue to stick an electric wire in place isn't a very good idea.

Yeah ok but this is bell wire. Not some fine wire with 10 strands twisted together. It's bent into shape so it can't move.

Trust me, I've pratically glue gunned the hole car!

O.K. I'm curious. This must be something I've missed in the latest technology? What is a "carputer"? And what is it that you are going to have your Ferarri do that requires it to have an on and off switch at the stearing column?
