why dose my 9400 seem so slow? Dellbert please help.

HI dellbert, you know allot, about this so maybe you can help me.

I've been tweaking my new laptop and such, but it seems slow? for a T2500 I think it should be pretty fast? I know my AMD Turion ML-44 2.4 Ghz was allot faster then this, and it only had the ATI 200M.

Could you give me a list of things to do to get my new 9400 running in tip top shape? I will have the CD from dell soon but untill then. I just used TuneXP 1.5 but if you could give me a list of things you would do that would help.

I also want to take the sound off when you start your computer, I did it wiht my HP, I forgot though. What do you have you 7800 go set to? I just want this to be running at 100% Thanks dellbert. Or any one ells, that knows.

oh what drivers should I use for my 7800 go? Just the one that comes with it or what? Also MSconfig I turned off a bunch off stuff but I'm not sure what NEEDS to be on. Please help. Thanks again

Sorry, no idea. Mine runs incredibly fast.

That link I gave you earlier for Black Viper's tweaking guide should tell you what services do what, but there's really no need to turn anything off unless you're benchmarking.

If you didn't install the correct video driver, then it will run very slow. I grabbed the 81.98 off of laptopvideo2go.com because that's what I run on my desktop.

just reformat and reinstall.
if the speed RIGHT after u install is too slow, i dunno what would be considered fast.

im doing some heavy multitasking with my 2500, its nothing short of amazing. my desktop p4 2.66 pales in a ion even tho it had a much faster HDD

also for virusscan..i unisntall mcafee and myself use nod32

try running 3dmark2006 and see what results you get

After I reinstalled windows XP on my E1705, everthing was slow and laggy (including the entire windows setup, which took two hours) until I installed the nvidia drivers. That sped things up.

what drivers would that be for your nvidia?

dellbert, why did you get the 81.98? Is there not newer ones? Should I get this or the xtreamg?
I used 81.98 because that's what I'm running on my desktop system. So far, it seems fast and stable, but I'm sure the later versions are fine. There are whole forums dedicated to comparing various driver versions and tweaks -- don't follow my lead on this one.
