I had the battery charging issue happen once (where it was plugged in but used the battery up) but it recovered for a month, then the 9860 would not start up. You hit the power button, it comes on, it accesses the hd, cd rom and then stops. No startup screen. Rarely I have gotten it to go all the way to windows where it promptly freezes as soon as I try to do anything. I assume it is a bad mobo like multitudes of other 9860 users are having. I think if it is a design flaw they should recall the laptop for a hardware fix like they do with automobiles. No such luck or support. Now (being a couple of months out of warranty). Is it worth the upgrade to the 9890 mobo with the 7800 graphics card? I heard it gives you a 12 month warrenty if you upgrade, only 3 months if you replace the old mobo with the same type. Do the 9890's have less problems than the 9860's? Will it die 13 months after I spend all that money to upgrade? Right now though, I have a $3000 paper weight.
Thanks ahead for your opinions and knowledgable feedback, I love these forums, except I wish their were less dead laptops to talk about.
