9400/E1705 7800GTX Go venture - Page 13

$425 for 7900 GTX? thats cheap :x
here the 7800Go is going for $540 ( Norway )
thats 3450 NOK
I believe the the price of $425 should be for the go 7900 gs because is to low for the go 7900gtx when you compare the cost to upgrade when purchase with the computer.

Dell charge $399 to upgrade the go 7900 gs on the Dell XPS M1710 and about $249 for the go 7800 on the Dell E1705. The price of the go 7900 gs should be similar to the go 7800. Dell always charge more when you buy the upgrades later so the price should be around $649.
(ex. Dell go 7800gtx cost $599)

Computer:
Dell E1705, T2600, 2gb ddr2 667, 100gb7200, go 7800, intel 3945 wifi,
bluetooth, 3yr-warranty

Hey, be optimistic, maybe they screwed up again like they did on the $250 7800 GTX

Well 7900gtx is in the 9400 and the bios see's it, dell drivers load ok, but the scores seem low in 3dmark05/06?

The Core Freq is 500mhz
and the mem freq is 600mhz are these the setting for the 7900gs?
Looks like the dell bios is limiting it?

What does the gtx run at normaly?

ok I want to know how you got ahold of a 7900gtx....

numbers look close to where the XPS's are running, my guess is it needs tweaking, remember the 7900 gtx is only 10-20% faster than the 7800GTX stock to stock.

Brought a m1710 and nicked the card out to test
True, just thought it should be a bit more?
Started a new thread on this as the title does not reflect the 7900.

Someone mentioned earlier that merom, when it comes out will fit into the 9400/e1705. Is this true?
ya it is, as far as i know.

So, all 7800/7900 (gtx) gos fit into the E1705? Sweet :P.

So, doo *all* the cards fit if the E1705 was ordered with the IntelĀ® Media Accelerator 950? thx

If you already ordered it you better cancel. The e1705 with the integrated graphics if NOT COMPATIBLE with an add-in card. One poster may have fried his 6800go so I wouldn't even try it.

oh boy, good to know, thx. but if it comes with a, say 7800 go (or x1400, is cheaper :P), i can dump in my 7800 gtx? thx thx,

Franz

As in, no soldering, just 9 cell and 130w adapter, no new BIOS? thx

Got mine at 445/1250 now. I am getting 7629 in 3DMark05 and 4384 in 06. Wow, this is a totally worthy upgrade...

That's correct. The main difference between the two is die size. Performance is almost identical.

Just dropped the 7800GTX in my 9400, stable at 445/1250! nice! havent benched it yet though! But getting 50-70fps in CS:Source with max everything inc. FSAA @ 1920x1200!!!!

This was totally worth it, got mine for 270USD on ebay
post #259 of 259
Hrm... I just don't feel it was worth the upgrade, I didn't do it, but I'm sayin'... I get 8400 3DMark05 on my 7900GS and I'm sure I could go higher.
