Monitor does not switch off according to Power Options

Ever since I swapped my motherboard for a different model (old mobo was defective) and ran a repair installation of XP, the monitor will not switch off after [X] number of minutes when I set it so in the Windows Power Settings.

I've been through and fiddled with all of the power settings in the BIOS and nothing has worked.

I've found very few answers through web searching, reading manuals, etc...none of which have worked.

Any suggestions?

reformat?

To me this seems a tad bit trivial.

Trivial enough to make a reformat and re-installing unreasonable, yes. But not trivial enough to want to solve. Having used this feature for years flawlessly, it's annoying not being able to use it at all.

does your screen saver work?

Yes, the screen savers work. I just use the default Windows XP or "blank" screen saver.

hmm, ok, i thought there might have been something running that was interrupting the countdown fo it to go on...

FYI: when connected to a different computer, my monitor switches off as expected according to the power settings on that computer.

Hey man, sorry I tried finding that reg fix for you it must've been on the drive that fried two weekends ago. I'm sorry man. I am pretty sure if I ask around I can find it through someone else. I am really sorry.

Do you have a standby option when you go to shutdown/reboot? If not, all drivers may not be properly installed, which could fug with other power options. Everything look good in device manager?

Also don't worry about messing with the settings in BIOS. Assuming you have ACPI compliant MB and power control by APM on (usually default), they won't effect power control within Windows.

What driver do you have installed for the monitor? (When you go into display settings, does it say something like Default Monitor on [your video card], or does it list the name of the monitor?) Turning the monitor off requires a plug-and-play monitor driver, so that could be what's throwing you off. Just a thought.

I have installed the official driver from the manufacturer's website (AOC Spectrum 7Glr). It has always been able to work with this specific driver installed until now.

Nope, this monitor has always been able to switch off. In fact, I just tried it with another computer where the monitor was simply set to "Plug and Play" and it was able to automatically switch off just fine.
