A75-S231 has blue vertical line in display?

Thread Starter
My Satellite A75-S231 turned itself off last night probably due to overheating. It's been doing that periodically and I just discovered this forum this morning so I have done some reading on the possible causes of the overheating but I haven't made any changes as of yet.

However, when I started it up this morning, I have a vertical blue line in the display running from top to bottom about 1/4 of the way over from the left side of the display.

Is this a common problem with the display? It is a 15.4" WXGA Tru Brite ATI with the ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP card.

Thanks for you help!

If I were you, I would contact toshiba about this "blue-line" running through your screen. They'll probably replace it. If it's not the screen, it is a possibility that the wire from the lcd to the motherboard has a loose connection, or got damaged.

Try to connect an external monitor.
If you see the same line on the external monitor, the system board is bad.
If the external video is fine, I would blame the LCD screen or possibly the video cable.
