Acer won't turn on motherboard problem? URGENT PLEASE READ!

Hi guys. Please help me if you can. I have a problem It appears to be a random problem - I go to turn on my Acer Aspire 1694WLMi (by pressing the power button) -> the light comes on, fan goes round, but the screen is not initialised and nothing happens! Whats going on please help! Removing/Replacing the AC adapter seems to work, depending on whether its plugged in or not, but appears to be quite random. I think it may have something to do with the AC adaptor or the battery.

If anyone has had a similar problem with powering up their notebook, please let me know! I've only had this laptop for a few months and so far has served me well - I'm trying to see if there's a simple solution before sending it off to Acer (I've heard their customer support is crap lol and I need it for uni). Thanks

You heard Acer support is crap, and you would rather post here than call them. What sort of psychology is that?

1) Call them nevertheless. You paid for the laptop, you deserve technical support (it's included in the price).
2) Their support is NOT crap. I had to deal with them a number of times, and they were far more useful then some of the other techs I had to deal with.
3) Why are you posting this in the "Reviews and Benchmarks" board?

Not trying to sound harsh, just trying to help you.

I'm soon to be an acer owner myself, But i have to back you up here, My friend has dealt with acer several times for support with his Laptop, and eventually reaching them, the Support was brilliant.

Didn't you try and call Acer? Asking us really isn't going to help an awfull lot, as this post would probably have been replied to by now with a fix if so. I recommend you call acer, rather than waiting on someone to wave a magic wand and tell you how to 'fix' you're laptop.

God, that sounded harsh.. Yeah, call acer.

As you can see, many people are recommending to call Acer.

Seriously, you have something against Acer? Why did you buy an Acer laptop then?

lol no i aint calling acer dammit. their technical support is NOT included in the price- its £1/per min, and all they're gonna say is (after 20mins of hold) is bring it into a repair centre so we can charge u £200 for a mobo replacement! The reason i'm posting here is cos other ppl have had mobo replacements and i was just wondering if they cud help me, not u, cos u aint helping dammit.

If you don't want to call Acer, then you really only have 1 option left...
Grab some tools, and get that puppy opened up and tear it all apart... maybe you'll determine what's wrong all by yourself... or find someone that knows stuff about Acers, but doesn't work for Acer (because those guys suck) and pay him...
You will void the warranty doing that... but that's okay! because you don't really want to try what happens through the warranty process anyways...

You are on drugs. I don't remember being charged for anything last time I called Acer. In fact, I had my hard drive replaced, and wasn't charged for that either. (They even let me do it myself at my request).

P.S. Could a moderator lock this nonsense, please?

Hey guys. Now and then my laptop makes a weird beep code on startup, it has a phoenix notebios 6.1, but can't find the description for it anywhere. There is a long beep followed by two short ones.

If others have Mobo Replacements how is that going to help you. ? You'll just have to phone up tech support and get it shipped to acer repair center so they can install a new Mobo. And yes bleeps indicate a Mobo problem. Have you tryed taking the ram out and replacing it.

what are you talking about, you idiot, just go away and stop spamming this thread with your crap - I've seen your other posts and they are all sarcastic and childish. What do you even know about laptops, I have posted on here because believe it or not, these forums are for support and info from other users, not for idiots like you to piss around and say stupid things
