Toshiba Tablets?

Thread Starter
Hello. I am planning on getting a new notebook, and after reading CNET's review, was leaning toward a Toshiba Protege 3505 tablet. However, that model isn't listed on Toshiba's web site -- I searched for "3505" and the only hit was for a digital pen. Any thoughts / recommendations?

Thanks!

I guess Toshiba doesn't want to sell that product directly or perhaps their webmaster is in a coma. If you want to buy it, CNET lists some vendors.

Beyond that. why would you want to spend $1500 for a P3 machine with a 12" XGA screen. I guess it being a "TABLET" makes up for that but I don't seen what the advantage is. I don't get why TABLETs are so behind the times technology-wise. Its why they don't sell well. But if you want a TABLET, this looks like a better than average one, at least it has a fair amount of RAM.

Just remember, this is roughly the same price as 5680 and there's no comparison between the machines.

3505 still available at Circuit City

I've seen the 3505 at several Circuit City stores (in Chattanooga and Clearwater, FL) and at my local Microcenter store (1/25/04). It was reduced to $1100 for the on-display unit at Microcenter in Columbus, OH.

I must say, though, that the display of Toshiba's newer model, the M200 is MUCH brighter and clearer due to the enhanced resolution (1400x1050).

On That note, does anyone know of the most powerful tablet out there? So far, I've seen the portege m200 as the most powerful....

what do I mean by most powerful? Well, it has a 5200 FX go(not much, but better than integrated), 512 Mb of RAM upgradeable to 2G, and a 1.5Ghz centrino. I realize its a little pricey, but I really want the best tablet anyone has to offer. So, if anyone knows, please point me in the right direction!

Yeah it probably is the Portege m200, and after that the HP TC1100. Which also has the same video module, but only 1 GHz Pentium M.

Motion, which for a long time carried the title of best TPCs is going to be making an anouncement sometime in March I believe... you might want to wait for them.

Basically, all I want to do is get rid of paper, for the only purpose of turning things in...if that.

Visit tabletpc.com which is a great forum where tablets from all brands are discussed. There you can read first hand accounts and see problems that have been identified concerning all Tablets.

As for the motion website..

Here it is

Motion was the ODM of the Tablets that Gateway used to sell... in other words... Gateway was selling rebranded Motion Tablets.
