Just wondering, how well will the intel gma 900 play cs 1.6?

i see the words "college" and "gaming". Only option in my book is the XPS M170. U wanna spend under 2000? wait for a coupon

I already decided that I'm not going to get a "gaming" notebook

If I had 2000 to spend I would spend 1000 on a laptop and 1000 on a desktop. The laptop you get would be pretty nice with decent memory and hard drive. If you shop around for the desktop you could really get a "screamer" for 1 grand today that would keep up or surpass the fastest laptop in gaming.

I've just started playing with my new AW m5500, and am extremely happy with it. BUT, I'd have to vote for the gaming desktop and a small/light/good battery life laptop for taking with you to class. This combination really does give you the most flexibility (and you'll be less tempted to play games while you are supposed to be taking notes in the lecture hall )

I have another question, what fps do you think cs 1.6 will run at on an intel gma 900?
No idea but i think it would be playable

I'm using a Asus W3V as my only computer and in my experience it's a perfect hybrid between a main purpose/portable/powerhouse gaming laptop. I get 4 hours of battery life and it's not noticably heavy at all when lugged around and when I get home I can play any game I'd like.

It runs GTA San Andreas & BF2 perfectly.

But if I were you I'd get the upgraded Asus W3J which is the same laptop but with Intel Dual Core & ATI X1600 GFX!

It's a nicly sized 14" WXGA laptop that weighs only 2.2 kg(4.9lbs?)

EDIT: The W3J will be available late march/early april.

I agree with kaidoit, If you want to go hybrid, which I like personaly, the asus would be a good one to wait for. Asus' seem to be prices afordably.

I have a friend that has the Inta Gma 900 and can play 1.6 quite well, i don't know exact fps but it is def playable. My old P2 450Mhz with a radeon 9000 and 256mb of ram could run 1.6 well, so you will definalty be fine.

If you decide to get a good laptop, look at the Ferrari 4000 series, it will run CS:S very well although almost anything else you can throw at it.

i have an xps m140 and it pretty much perfect for just college stuff. it also plays some games ok on it ( i play wolfenstein:enemy territory when i have free time), and it plays pretty good at med res, even through i usually go for the lowest res possible since i could care less about eyecandy.

i paided $1003 for mine brand new with 1.87gh cpu, 1 gb ram, 80 gb harddrive, and bluetooth, but i heard people getting good setups of the m140 at the outlet store for like 700 to 800 bucks.

also the 710 is pretty good too, my friend has one, and the only reason i didn't get it is i hate typing on that tiny keyboard.
