Thinking about getting a replacement screen for e1705. Questions

EDIT 9:30pm dell finally updated my part specs.

CF176LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 17, Wide Ultra Extended Graphics Array, VIDEO ELEC. STDS. ASSOC., GLARE WIDE VIEWING ANGLE, SAMSUNG

i got my e1705 and i notice there are quite large amount of sparkles all over and the light leakage doesnt bother me but there is about an inch or less light leakage.

But the sparkles i think are messing with my eyes

So how is the process with the screen replacement? Do they send you a new one and then you send your old one back?

I think i have at home service on my warranty does that mean they come to my home? to replace it for me?

Pretty much i just want to know the how exchange process.

If you ask for a replacement I would recommend telling them that you will install it yourself. In this case they will send you the LCD with a prepaid postage sticker and then you will replace them and send yours back. If you prefer, they will ship the LCD to a certified technician (it still dumbfounds me how these guys manage to get their certification though), and they will replace it for you and take your old one. I've heard many horror stories of the technicians scratching up the system though, so I'd really recommend doing it yourself.

Could you post a picture of these "sparkles." I've heard people talking about it, but I actually like to see it.

its harder to get a picture taken of these sparkles to me.. its pretty much when you look at the white parts or lighter parts of the screen.. you don't see the smoothness of the whites instead you see bits of stuff like grains on the whites which makes it look weirder compared to my dell ultrasharp lcd and notebooks i have owned.. how do i say it, the screen looks dirty when its not dirty i really dont know how to explain it

and generally the screen does not look as bright to me compared to my ultrasharp i dont know why. It is a trubrite or whatever and all..

this is my first dell notebook are there online instructions on how to replace the screen?

I am going to request the screen be sent to my house, please someone post a link or write up some quick and dirty instructions on how to replace a screen. Thanks.

Here is a link to the Dell 9400 service manual instructions to removing the display assembly.

As orijin states, sparkles are very difficult to capture on a camera, and all I have is a 3.2MP one, so I can't even attempt it. But the best way for it to be described is that when looking at a light colored area it just looks very grainy and almost dirty. Instead of being smooth, it looks rough and like the quality is bad, even though it is 1920x1200.
