My friend has a Dell Inspiron 1100 and each time he touches the screen a little it turns off. He then has to hold down the power button for awhile to turn off the computer then turn it on again. He hooked up a monitor to it and when he hit touched the screen the monitor turned off? Whats the diagnosis is this an dold problem?

considering how old the model is its likely the motherboar dmaking horrible contact with the output devices. My best guess is the Motherboar dneeds to be replaced do you happen to still have warrenty?

Your really out of luck. The cost of replacing the board could run $100-350 My advice is to look into investing in a new machine altogether. This time around consider longer warrenty its an invest that always pays for itself after 1 year.

Inspiron 1300 , B130 are great models and they run under 500 on baselines.

If you still wanna find out how to fix your i1100 the parts in concern is likely your motherboard so ebays is probabaly one of the outlets you can check. I stress though to never expect perfect condition boards from ebay since most are just pulled from used or old systems.
