Remote for TV Studio

Thread Starter
I recently purchased the 4780 and I couldn't be happier. The only problem lies with the remote supplied with AverTV Studio II. The only button that works is the power button. Is there any configuration I have to do with the remote to make it work properly? Please advise.

Are you running the QuickTV app in the systray? I know there needs to be the remote's mini-application running in the systray for the remote to function (I think it's called QuickTV...).

see - i'm not too sure about that, because i could still use the remote when i closed the application... in fact, i would really like to know how to have other remote apps use the remote... (showshifter comes to mind - great app - more geared to making a set-top-box, but works great)

the remote doesn't work for crap, except for the power button, changing channels of AVerMedia TV Studio II and startng AVerMedia TV Studio II(when QuickTV is running in the tray). Tech Support seems to know nothing and don't seem do be doing jack **** about it.

Yep, the so called features on the remote are non existant.

I contacted Avermedia and they were going to contact sager and find out what model tv tuner that is used in the 4780 so that they could look into this, BUT sager never responded so fuge it.

My opinion on the whole TV-Tuner thing (which I've NEVER used, though I have it) is that it was just a "Bullet Item" - that is, something to list in marketing materials. Take a $5 item (tuner hardware + remote) and you can advertise yet another "feature" for the laptop. I didn't buy my machine for the tuner, but if I did, I would not be really happy.

I've used All-In-Wonder ATI stuff on a workstation and it's not too bad, but I'd never replace TiVo with it.

well, as far as im concerned, the tv-tuner did factor into the purchase of my 8890. its not the best, but its not the worst either, trust me. as far as the remote... it works fine for me - arrow keys move the mouse around, drag button works... etc... its not something i use ofter - if at all, but the tv-tuner i get a good bit of use out of... (recording weekly tv-shows, etc...)

Hi guys, so if I get this right everything like powerpoint presentations, tv, dvd, sound etc can be controlled via the remote on the 8890 models but not the 17" models?

Correct.

This just blows. Right now it is the only thing keeping me from ordering a 4780 and waiting on the 8790--maybe the remote is fixed for that machine.

I can't believe they would deliver an, essentially, non-functional product. What is weird is that I've seen no problems w/ the 8890. Does not make Sager look good.
