9300 more futerproof then XPS2

So, no High-Definition hardware acceleration for XPS2 then ?

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/03...264_purevideo/
http://www.nvidia.com/page/purevideo_support.html

Slightly surprising, but I always knew 9300 is a better choice anyway ;->

you are wrong... i think

if you look at the spreadsheet under geforce go, you will see that the geforce 6800 go does support h.264 acceleration. since i dont see the ultra part, i'm assuming that it's good for all 6800 go product incluidng ultra. dont loook in the pci express version of the 6800 ultra.. that's the desktop version not the mobile.

what exactly is your basis constant? you don't really say anything except link to things that really stand to disprove your point if you had one.

Considering they're the same thing and all...

Did you even read the list? Did you actually scroll down to the 'Go' section, where is shows the 6800 Go?

Even if the 6800 Ultra isn't supported, guess what? The XPS 2 is upgradeable to the 7800GTX GO!

Futureproof indeed.

The 7800 is fine and it does not mention the 6800 ultra Go version.....that article is talking about desktop video cards not notebooks ones

If you look on the nVidia link and scroll down to the 'GO' section you'll see that they are indeed talking about laptop cards as well. The 7800GTX Go and the 6800 Go (doesn't mention Ultra) are both supported cards.

I meant the other linked article....when they say the Ultra doesn't do the decoding I'm almost certain they mean the desktop card.

Yeah, you're correct. Sorry about that man.

He's talking about the first article linked. I'm sure he's aware that Nvidia's table has mobile cards listed. Anyways this is all moot and the original poster should be flogged for not reading his own links

True, but it's pretty funny how the OP came in here flaunting his 'information' without realizing the fact that the GPUs can be upgraded on both computers.

What does PureVideo have to do with being FutureProof??? Just because hardware accelerated video isn't available on some models doesn't mean they all can't play the same crap. Some will just be smoother than others.

either way. what most of us have now is the bare min for the vista os alone. its probably going to take a few generations before vista can operate in the bling bling mode without tremendous lag. this thread has to do with vista right?

The thread is about PureVideo hardware acceleration. It's an Nvidia technology product. PureVideo is not a requirement of Vista.
