Request for Fujitsu Amilo D 1840 Review/Bench.

Allright, I have ordered the topiced laptop. Today the seller called me and said that it will take two more weeks before they get them in stock. He asked me if I wanted another product. So here I am, not knowing if I want that.

However, somewhere on the net I found a benchmark on 3Dmark01 at around 8000-9000, and on 3Dmark03 at around 3000+. Can anyone confirm this?

Also, I am interested in the quality of the WXGA at 1280*800 pixels. Since I will use my laptop alot for watching DVD's, I must have a widescreen.

If there are any similiar (both price and power) laptops out there that I have missed, please throw that into a reply aswell. The Amilo D 1840 WS costs around 1800 USD where I live (sweden).

What shop in Sweden?

What shop in Sweden did you order in? What configuration is it? Price in SEK?

www.komplett.se sells D-1840 WS in different configurations.
www.power.se has a 2.6 Ghz also for 15990 SEK.

About reviews, here is an answer I got from Fujitsu Siemens Computers in Sweden today:
Finns det några tester av D-1840 man kan läsa om på internet?
http://www.barbara.no/art.php?artikkelid=4405 (på Norska) - Man får klicka på "konklusjon" - för att få summering av testet i rulllisten
http://sagerforums.com/showthread.ph...314#post110314 - Chatt om D-1840.
Finns fler, fann dock inga svenska tester. Sök på Google på ordet Test D-1840

I haven´t found any good test yet.

I ordered it on komplett.se, the 2.8 model but they ran out of it as you see, only 2.6'ers there now until the 26th. However, komplett.se sells the 2.6 model cheaper. I think the price for it is 14.600 SEK approx. They take 18.000 SEK for the 2.8 model.

Thanks for the previews, I will check them out!

Have you got your D1840 yet? If so, how is the computer?

The 2.6 GHz at Power for 15990 SEK includes a DVD-burner which Komplett.se does not have.

I have received it now yes. I am currently testing it's limits and a review will arrive shortly. The benchmarks will start this weekend.

Well I saved 1400 SEK by not choosing the DVD-RW, this will give me almost a gig of memory instead. I can't really say that I'm in need of the DVD-RW - especially not the slow ones that comes in laptops (2.4x). External DVD-RW's comes for almost the same price and they burn DVD-R's in 4x and even 8x. I am not using this laptop on trains, I'm just moving my system around with more ease than a desktop. I consider the battery more as an UPS than anything

Generally, this laptop is awesome. The sound level is noticable but not disturbing, more like a soft breeze. It goes up a bit when using the GPU more intensively but then the sound from a game makes it disappear.

The TFT is absolutely awesome, never had anything like it. Crystal clear with a viewing angle that amazes me.

But I will tell more about it in the review!

Thankyou!
Did you buy the 2.6 GHz? Price?
Does it have preinstalled WLAN?
How does the guarantee work? If something goes wrong, do you have to send it somewhere?
I look forward to hear more from you.

Yes the 2,6GHz 800FSB alternative, cost 14.600 (inkl moms) at komplett.se but they raised it to 15.200 (inkl moms) now. It has WLAN yes, the b standard (11mpbs).

I will line up everything in my review. Trying alot of 3D based games now and after that I will post it.

Now Komplett.se take 14349 SEK for the 2.6 GHz. The price seems as a jo-jo.
How does the 3 year guarantee work? If something goes wrong, do you have to send it somewhere?
How does the widescreen work with programs made for "normal" 4:3 screens? Do the programs get streched as on a widescreen TV?
